Nik_B 3,790
Anyone else been there? What a cracking fishery. Small but lovely and very deep spring fed reservoir in North Wales with amazing views. Went down with my dad and a couple of his friends today, the sun was very bright so the fish were very deep. Luckily I managed to find the right depth early on using a fast sinker and 10-14 seconds sinking time with a Dawsons Olive type lure (which I like to use when I'm not confident of else to use). After 30 minutes testing the depths I took several takes and hooked but lost 3 fish in a row which was starting to get annoying. After a bit more perseverance I landed 5 fish all absolutely beautiful quality fish around 3-4 Lbs all with full powerful fins, not one with rounded tails from being in small tanks, maybe due to the depth and high oxygen levels at those depths but they were at but all gave a fantastic fight and one in particular really made me think I'd hooked something huge when it turned out to be around the same size as the rest. Anyway like a twat I didn't take any photos again but the place is run by a very enthusiastic guy who has worked wonders with the fishery and I can safely say that it is now one of my top choices of places to fish even though it's a bit of a drive from Stockport, so I can really recommend it http://www.graiglwydsprings.co.uk/ Quote Link to post
gazjon5 851
A great fishery, well stocked with big fish and like you said great views over Puffin Island way. Not been for a good few years but if it is still owned by the big Welsh lad Hugh am sure it will still be top class. Certainly wasn't one to poach though, back then he had the biggest rottie i have ever seen set up at night on a sliding chain system surrounding the pool, chased me and a mate one night half way round the lake when we stayed on a bit late Edited June 8, 2013 by gazjon5 1 Quote Link to post
