These are a nest of Goldies that are thriving by the look of thing's.. Here is the first batch that hatched the little irish fancy is doing a good job. This little lot hatched today..let's hope the little irish is as good as the other.. All i am waiting for now is the 2 pair of redpoll's to hatch and my satinette Greenfinch..the hen who hatched the first lot of chick's has also started laying again...and if they don't calm down i will soon run out of space.. Hammo 42
Well done with your birds millet ! But withought trying to put a dampner on things , you haven't really bred a British bird until you have achieved it by being reared by its proper parents , rung it , and got it through the moult . That's why breeding goldies , bullies ect is so hard , because when doing it properly you encounter all the problems that come with the territory ! I understand its the easy option to foster them out to canaries and try and eliminate the problems that there true parents throw at us , but at the end of the day that's all part of breeding these beautiful things . Once you have achieved it withought the help of foster parents then and only then can you truly say you have bred them . And the satisfaction is second to none . Hope you don't take this the wrong way , good luck with the rest of your season , hope you continue to do well , give there true parents a chance , they will probably do a better job than the canaries .
