swg dave 334
Just a quick update, my younger dog is now 22months old, and what a different dog those 7 months have made. He is used for lamping rabbits and catches well, he has a good prey drive, and as soon as lamp goes off he runs back, nearly as fast as he run out if he misses. his retrieve is not that great, but even at this age is improving. All in all he is a nice old dog with plenty of stamina and plenty of speed.. Quote Link to post
swg dave 334
Looking back over some of my old posts, i thought id give a quick recap. The younger dog of my two at time of posting this topic was 15 months old, he is now 3 years old, and i can honestly say he has matured in to a very handy very obedient dog and friend, I would not be without this dog, at times i could have pulled my hair out, with the disobedience, running off, totally blanking me. But i stuck with it and am so happy I did. Cheers SWG DAVE............. 3 Quote Link to post
border lad 1,047
the black bitch is a genuine saluki/whippet/grey, grandsire is westmeade-hawk, she has the gears, turn on a 5pence piece, and a good strike to boot, ideal for rabbits and the long ears, 2 Quote Link to post

op herrick 31
hope this post helps with anybody who takes a saluki x on. my saluki first x landed at my door with a £50 price tag. woud"nt listen to a command he was told, thought off the lead meant see you later mate. some tuff love later he now works to hand signals and every catch is a joy. i never liked saluki x because i thought they were slip them off the lead lurchers. this dog has now been with me for 5 years. works the cover, hunts on his own and is a true one man dog. give a dog a bad name is rife in our chosen field. i"m no top notch dog trainer, but i work my dog single handed and we both love out (fur and feathers). get a lurcher and get out there and forget 5 out of 5. AND if you want to see a 7 year old saluki x beat your champions you can find me walking the hills around loch lomand. awright i mite be joking but we"ve all got world beaters or we would"nt keep them. 2 Quote Link to post

Anthony Simmons 22
I have a saluki x, he's nearly 16 week old, having read a lot of bad reports on them I was expecting trouble but I couldnt of been more wrong up to yet lol, he's sitting on command, retrieves and his recall is brilliant, when he's off the lead he walks to heal unless he's told to go play, i have also found that when he does do wrong screaming and being aggressive does not work, his sire is a sal x dh and his dame is a sal x gh and its got me thinking where the hell he's got the obedience from, some one will most probably say wait until hes older 8-10 months old when he starts to mature the fun will start but I think if he's showing the obedience and promise at this age there will have to be some sort of drastic change other than him hitting puberty to alter this Quote Link to post
