Wheat Or Barley?

Due to the wet weather, the farmer on my shoot did not plant any winter wheat and just has spring barley (cheaper for me to buy from farmer than buy elsewhere). What do ducks or pheasants think of barley compared to wheat?

Aye we used to dump the chaff from the drier near a pond and the ducks would quite happily sort threw it , never saw the pheasants near it

Yep it will feed ducks grand. Doesn't sink like wheat though if you're feeding rivers or strong current with it you have to soak it overnight. No use for pheasants as said above.

the only thing I think is that it could be the depth of water then that put them off misty

another thing ive done on tidel gutters instead of soakin proven ive put two stop ends on a lenth of plastic gutter addin television legs to each end pushed into the mud the lenth of brook stretched right across the field but I could pick out where the ducks would come in on flight time I hope its use full information for ya and even when floodin did show no loss of proven misty

Controversial or not your correct. I've had more teal than mallard come to a pond on barley. Lots of different reasons for it actually.
