fret78 87
Thanks everyone for the comments about the rifle . In all fairness its much more accurate that i could ever shoot it . I'm 100% sure that on a windless day the HW98 would also be able to hit the bottom of a .22 rim fire case quite consistently Elliott bud. Maybe not with me shooting it, as i think the bottom of a case at that range would be pushing my skill limits a little too much at the moment, but with a better shot than me I'm sure it could be done easily enough What I did do yesterday though with Phil witnessing it, but sadly we didn't film it being done was to shoot a 5 shot group with the 98 at 55 yards in a very slight breeze and 4 of the 5 pellets went in the same hole with the 5th shot just falling outside the 1 hole. Its a shame that we didn't film it as it would of made some real nice footage. Hi Rob glad that you liked watching the 98 in action at ODP HFT course. Im sure you will end up with one very soon. Me and Davy have just received a text message from Tony Wall. Apparently the boss at Hull Cartridge as just watched this clip and as phoned Tony asking him to tune his own personal HW98 the same as mine. He also said that all the lads at HC now watch VHTV and follow the channel taking great interest in what we are doing with the HW rifles . Si. Alright Si, I think you seriously underestimate you shooting mate, I've admittedly not been shooting long but you're pretty sodding good from what I've seen. to the point where I think you and Davy should do a springers master class at the meet. I've not long since had my springer and it's deffo a different beast. What do you say pal? Quote Link to post
Elliott 436
I agree with fret78 her Si; your shooting is somewhat legendery. I'm sure if you put your mind to it you'd easily be able to do it One thing I'm a bit rubbish on is finding the perfect pellet and calibrating my set up. Would love to spend some time with you and Davy doing it properly Edited June 6, 2013 by Elliott Quote Link to post
davyt63 1,845
hi guys thanks for the comments,as far a master class goes in spring rifle shooting "i think not" we are far from masters! there are far better shooters than Si & myself, but what we can offer is help at the meet to calibrate your set ups! and any advise? if Pianoman turns up then he will be dishing out the master classes with us all sat on the grass leg crossed listening to his wise words i have only been shooting a spring rifle again since 2006,but pianoman has been shooting em years,i gladly listen to any thing Simon has to say,or any tips so get your names down for the meet 2 Quote Link to post

zini 1,939
Thanks lads for your confidence in me and Davy, its appreciated, but as Davy rightly says, the person that you want to listen to is Simon (Pianoman). He is the man when it comes to springer shooting and i would say is probably the font of knowledge of the guys i know anyway. Me and Davy just enjoy shooting a springer and are trying to improve each time we shoot springers as are many others too. From meeting the amount of lads that i have in person over the past 3 years from this forum I would say that there are many really good springer shooter in this section. A lot of experience and talent too. We could have a real good meet in July if everyone turned up and brought their best / favorite springer. Maybe even have a comp going on over the weekend to crown the 2013 Summer THLF airgun section springer champion . I would happily arrange it for anyone who is interested. Probably done in 3 parts where range finders and bean bags can be used as they would be in the field. A .177 and .22 class ending with the best in each caliber going head to head recorded on VHTV in the grand final. To make this fair it would be the first to 3 in a 40 meter 5 shot group comp. By doing this trajectory will have no effect and shooter skill will be examined. You just zero as normal and aim at one point with the pellets falling low in a group at 40 meters, just like a BC calibration shoot. We could also teach the way me and Davy calibrate our combos to a very accurate degree. Edited June 6, 2013 by zini 2 Quote Link to post
