The annual T.H.L meet

at Rivington riflemens club on the 12, 13, 14 July 2013

find us
The post Code for Turton Tower is BL7 0HG. AKA Rivi
Turton Tower is also signposted with the Brown Signs.
Drive into the entrance through the stone columns and continue, passing the Tower Gates on your right.
Continue over the ornate railway bridge and turn left at the T junction (over the cattle grid). Park off the road as soon as you can and you are on the range.
The range hut is to your right just over the brow of the hill.

For those unfamiliar with the meet and what it entails, I shall give a brief outline.

Basically it is a two day event with camping on-site for those who wish to camp, unfortunately there is no provision for caravans or motor homes. Also no dogs allowed I am afraid.

Food will be down to yourself to bring with you.The essence of the whole weekend is to have fun, although there is a H.F.T competition and air rifle darts. It really is just about being there and making friends and renewing old acquaintances.

Open to all Air rifles that are sub 12ft/lbs,and can be checked at random.

Friday;

will be a day of setting up camp and zero range,and erect long range shot.also assessing the field for suitable ground for our tents and parking,so if you have the Friday free and would like to help set up,then please come along!

SATURDAY;

basically this is the social day, there is a plinking range available and one or two other side shoots/demo's for everybody to use/try.
It gives everybody a chance to try other stuff such as rifles and scopes and get to know each other.

There will be a couple of in house competitions on the Saturday after midday, which will include air rifle darts, and a long range elevated shot to try out, and I am sure Si Pittaway will have some other competition running to, spring piston I would imagine?

About 5-6pm the BBQ will be fired up and cooking and eating shall commence

Just bring what you want to eat with maybe little extra and that way everybody gets fed a bit of everything.

Once the rifles have been put away the camp fire is stoked and the real socialising commences, bring your own drink of choice and be prepared to share and have other drinks forced upon you? :whistling:
We retired about 4.30am last year but an early retirement is not frowned upon.
With couples and teenagers around the banter is great fun and good natured just like on here.

SUNDAY;

Basically wake up, have breakfast and from about 10.30am there will be a 30/35 shot H.F.T competition.

If there is a café/pub near I will try and organise a (FE) full English breakfast at your own cost! If you have not shot a competition before, do not worry. A teach in will be held and a lot of members first taste of H.F.T is at the meet. Some going on to become active H.F.T'ers!
After the shoot there will be a prize giving ceremony as soon as possible!

as we are aware people have travelled a long way and need to get back.

we shall then Say our good byes and wind our weary way's home!

The social side cannot be over emphasised, even though this is only the 4th annual meet already great friendships have been forged. Couples, ladies and young members are encouraged, the more the merrier! I am sure that covers most aspects of the meet, any questions please ask Davyt63 and you will have your answer

Arrival is from Friday pm/Saturday am, and the final cost is to be £17.00 all in for the weekend which includes H.F.T comp, & camping.

Any monies raised after covering the costs of the meet will be going to the charity

(5th Stevenage scouts shooting club)

A fantastic charity I think you will all agree.

Hope to see as many of you there as possible. :thumbs:

NO HUNTING AT THIS VENUE! SORRY!

Davy. I would love to mate but when the jobs done we will be hitting the road back home. Problem being we have one van and six lads.

I will make the suggestion and the answer will be along the lines of fecked and get!!

Thanks mate and the offer is appreciated. I do spend a lot of time down in Salisbury. We work and stay in the town centre so another time perhaps? Lol. It will keep me off the beer and the fantastic nightlife.

Cheers.
