Tom Spruce 1
I love getting out on an evening when the sun is blaring, and hardly a cloud in the sky.. especially after a day in the office. About a week ago my Good Farmer friend planted his annual summertime attraction, The Maize Maze! Brilliant day out for the kids and the whole family .. If it survives the masses of Crows and the odd few Pigeon that is! I’ve been watching it for a good few days and it has been swarming! So after a nice conversation and catch up over a brew in the café the farmer asked me what I was up to this week… to cut a long story short he wants me there all week after work. Bonus! So I went up there last night, Got set up next to a row of gooseberry bushes, Right next to the P.Y.O. Strawberries (this place is Awesome) laid out my decoys (Pigeon shells with black socks and also a few standard Shells too). There wasn’t much around at first, but gave it 20 mins, made a few noises with the caller and sure enough they started to appear had the first couple then expectedly went quiet for about 10 mins, To which the next part really surprised me. Pigeons started to pile in from all directions, and hardly seeing any for weeks I was over the moon J it’s an awesome spot, there were the odd few Magpie as well which I kindly took care of. What this permission has to offer is nearly endless! I’ll be heading up there most nights this week, and I may even take the Rifle as there’s lots of bunny evidence too. So all from 1 hide - Crows, Pigeon, Magpie and Hopefully a few Rabbits for the Pot. Plus some fabulous weather, don’t think it can get much better than this As mentioned I’m heading up all week so I’ll keep this post updated and with a few pictures too. Total: 24 Pigeons 15 Crows 2 Magpies Happy Chappie Quote Link to post
