snakey 4
This is an interesting thought, do you think that there should be a ` close season ` as regards to moles? Do you think that there are sufficient numbers of moles that would`nt warrant a ` close season `? Would a ` close season ` aid recovery of numbers? Do you think it would be financial suicide for the humble mole catcher? Would it be impossible due to whom we catch for? I think that this warrants a few thoughts eh? Quote Link to post
air gun ant 1,666
Do you have a lack of moles? Quote Link to post
Matt 160
Why would we need a close season? Moles are not in decline, if anything, their numbers are increasing following a couple of wet summers. Their natural habitat is woodland and scrub, even if every mole in gardens and on farmland was trapped, there would still be thousands of moles in the millions of acres of their natural habitat. Suggestions like this are often picked up by the antis; it's bad enough that we've got the Guild campaigning to restrict the mole catching trade without this kind of idea getting any kind of credence. nod 285
moles get plenty of time to move around when the crops are up, i dont fancy walking through 5 foot high rape fields to look for them either. for this reason i only do domestics mole jobs in the summer, Quote Link to post
Stuart Durrant 2
Nope not all moles do not need a close season. Think about it when the farmer phones up in the breeding season and you cant help him absolute madness. Quote Link to post

Although ive never been entirely ' comfortable ' trapping pregnant or lactating females, during the breeding season, its unrealstic to expect professional molecatchers,to abide by a ' close season ' .Customer demands and expectations prevent this.
