I don't know exactly what do you mean by "mix", it means to bite ? If it means to bite, they are more barkers than mixers. Betty, the left one on the pic, is my best jack (10 badgers in 5 hunts this

FD, I used to have a half hearted dog a few years back he was a red lakey. I got him off a friend who had no use for him, he wouldnt stay, I thought I would use him to help get a young dog that was slow to travel to run earths, he would also find anywhere and would stay for 15-20 mins on game, no more no less, now when all my dogs were in sick bay I used to take him out with me to look for new earths, if I found any dodgy earths, that were shallow in places and very deep, in other parts in he would go. I always had my digging tools in my van and my lurcher by my side, now you can or cannot believe the next bit if you want, in he would go and hes on, sounding away like a pro, box out and I would get a mark as quick as I can, I give a few big stamps on the floor if its shallow enough and may a thump with a branch. Out he comes 15-20 mins later not a scratch on him and he gives a quick shake and I put him on the lead. Then I wait about 20 mins and put him back in if he goes to the same spot again and sounds, BINGO!!! we are on, out he comes and on the lead he goes and back to the van we go, sharpish. He goes in the van and out come the tools, back to the earth and dig down where I last got a mark, I break through to soft soil, open up and the lurcher does the rest. I had 6 or 7 digs with the red lakey this way or should I say without him (doubles mainly).....Hail the half hearted.

If it suits you mate then crack on but not my take on a worker no matter what results were got.I'm surprised at you giving that dog kennel space to be honest but your the one to of fed it .I know there are substandard dogs about ,I was trying to gauge what the French thought was worth keeping ,breeding from .
