Good Tuning Kit For A Aa Tx200?

Recommended Posts

cant really add to whats already been said, but time on the ramge on paper and getting to know your rifle & scope is paramount.

Practice on paper in 5 yard increments until you can consistently hit within a 1" circle, then know your limits, theres no shame in only hunting out to 30-35yds, tbh it takes skill to get that close unless the quarry is daft and people friendly

Dont stop posting though mate we love to hear about the new guys and how they get on

Here is an exact screen print of my HW98 doing 9.3 FPE.

If you look at the ballistic data on the left of the picture you will actually see even at 9.3 FPE the rifle is still actually capable (not that i would ever try) of killing a rabbit at 105 yards.

Why do you need 11.9 FPE?.

I know it's hard for the more experienced guys, but asking questions on here is research. Admittedly he should know the difference between hair and a hare, A1WOC is a prime example of over hunted hair, just to be clear ;)

No harm meant A1WOC.

The rabbit tattoo on my head doesn’t work then!

Only from a distance lol

Airguns are a sport where the rule of "less is more" really applies. You increase power and the fit of the pellet to the barrel comes into question. Parts wear out faster. You want accuracy and precision with an air gun. For power get a .300 WinMag.

In the State of Missouri there is no such thing as FAC air guns. THe main thing limiting the power is the limit on your credit card. There are many over here who request a 12fpe tune when they send their air rifle into the shop. They want something that is easier to shoot, so you will practice more. They want an airgun that wears in, not wears out. You might get 18fpe out of an AA TX200HC, but it would be difficult to master.

Airgun pellets also limit the speed of how fast they can be fired. At about 900fps pellets start to become unstable in a transsonic state. At 1080fps pellets go supersonic and pattern like shotgun spray.

In UK you want have a sub-12fpe air gun. It will help keep the police out of your hair.lol

Peace, hope this helps,

RiverRomper

PS. The book "Air Rifle Hunting" by John Darling is always a fascinating read. Hunting with airguns is as alien as Sanskrit to us Yanks. Mr. Darling made a good effort o show one how to go about it

Si

How do you find the new format on chairgun , can't seem to get on with it

I don't like the new CGP as much as the older version VM.

I find the format not as good and some of the routines don't seem to run as good as in the older versions.

I shot Malc Barnards out the box (OTB) TX200HC last week at my club at 31 yards and it managed a 3 shot 1 hole 5 or 6 mm group.

Malc shot another 3 or 4 tiny 3 shot clover leaf groups straight after each other with ease.

The AA TX200 is defo the better and smoother rifle OTB.

Don't get me wrong though mate, the HW95 OTB will still do the business on vermin, it just works 100% better after a proper tune.

I seriously think HW are missing a trick here, yes I understand about mass production etc but think about it, a single shop like SWFS churning out tuned rifles, if HW were to spend a bit time and adding a little extra cost to the rifle they too could make an already good rifle great....
