Small Ferret Boxes

Recommended Posts

Very nice fella am tring to make one at the mo I 16 x 9 x 8 will that be ok for two stinkers befor I glue and pin it ?

These are 10 x 7 by 6" high at the biggest points. They take 2 jills no bother. I have bigger boxes but I don't like to carry anything I don't need to, lightness in all my gear is the thing for me.

Very well done mate they look spot on

When I made mine I soak the back ply in water for two mins it really helps when bending in to shap and it drys fast so the glue will not be affected atb mark

I have made bow backs before with 3 mm ply backs, got it bent round ok. A good tip here, I found a wooden cable holder in a skip, the type of thing that holds heavy electric cable, the middles of them have a 3mm ply section, the bigger the holder the bigger the diameter the middle will be. I cut the middle out and as it has a natural curve in it it is very easy to glue and pin to the back of a box. I made this ferret wheel the same way, using the middle of the cable holder for the outside band.

Made a few little ferret boxes, they are small lightweight ones for 2 jills, they are made from 6mm 5 ply and 3mm for the backs. I then primed undercoat and glossed them. A couple will be gifted to my mates.
