Getting My Lab To Come To Me Quicker..

My new dog comes to recall from sit stay but he just gets up like a old man and ambles/walks overto me ... he speeds up Iif I turn and walk run In the other direction ... any tips .. or am I just being impatient. . He's 11 month's but not had him long ..

as above try & get it so that he sees you as the best thing since sliced bread and that you represent fun treats cuddles praise etc dont worry if you think you look daft doing it as it WILL pay off in long run only give him the ball a couple of times when out & it should keep him eager when you show him it whilst recalling him -billy

as above again,treats and loads of chest rubbing praise,golf ball works then keep it in your pocket,he will always look for that,,he is young enough,so youve plenty time,,,,

Is it all the time or just retrieving etc ?

 

A bloke I know trains labs for trials showed me a little trick, stand near a hedge corner , throw the dummy, send the dog for it, then go around the corner so your out of sight. Dog comes flying back cos it thinks you've gone

Took him out this morning ... hes is shaping up now.. yeah I do feel a plonker giving him a big fuss but it will be worth it. ... he wasn't to good on the skates or board ;-)
