Couple of my dogs are having bother with itchy feet, think its the new nettles coming through.

Any reccomendations for treatment? I have been pondering bathing feet in salty water or maybe rubbing in sting relief cream?

I did wonder about an antihistimine as i know you can give it for wasp stings. Wasnt sure if ok for.nettle.stings.

Do you happen to know the dosage per 10kg?

just give it 1 tablet however there was a link posted on here the other day giving the exact dose per kg, do a search

I discussed using Piriton with my Vet the other day, for Bee and Wasp stings, its very simple just one tablet for any type of dog, said its a very safe drug to use.

on Nettles if your dogs are anything like mine have been, they hunt rabbits every day, so come in contact with nettles daily, so i would be given Piriton daily which i would not do.

if there is some sort of wash, that would be useful rather than given a tablet.

My dogs the same, I've found that bathing his feet in cool water helps and I tend to give him half a piriton before setting off for a long walk when nettles are about with game present.

Two or three as antihistamines don't work as good with dogs so need a higher dose

My suffers with the same and I was advised a antihistamine but as others have said the dog needs it before the stings to be effective. The other thing advised to me was baking soda, rubbing it into the pads. Seems to work pretty well.
