Lovely looking pup you have there my type of dog. I personally wouldn't be too worried about the recall at this stage, once the puppy phase is ove (however long it takes) you will see a change in the behaviour and the daftness will stop. Atb with the dog.

cheers yeah that's what i'm hoping, she can be a pain in the backside but i can't begrudge her just being a pup, she's great one to one but any distractions and i turn into the most boring person in the world and she's off! I know she'll come good given time though

10 months old, bang on 25tts, around 22kg. Don't know if the 'deerhounds are slow to mature' thing is anything but a myth, but mine is still very much a pup and nowhere near steady enough for any work this season. Can't complain though as she's very calm and laid back in the house and around people which is important to me, although if she's still daft as a brush this time next year i'll be chucking her in a box and giving her away as a secret santa present :whistling:

She's looking good mate. Are you in touch with anyone who had a pup out of the same litter? Are they all a similar size?

sadly don't know how others are doing, although probably for the best as knowing my luck the rest of the litter will probably be dog geniuses taking all quarry, guarding the house like demons and cooking their owners a perfect roast every Sunday

The pup is 12 months old now, this will be my last update on the thread, hopefully get a few pictures when she's out and about next season though.
She's 26 tts now, don't know if she'll get any bigger, hasn't put on any size in the last couple of months. Training going well, recall/retrieve pretty much there, still not 100% around stock so need to keep plugging away with that.
Had a couple of runs on bunnys and 'close calls' with a couple of roe, no catches yet. Was tempted to lamp her in the last month or so but decided to give it a few months, she's still very much a pup so think i'll let her enjoy acting daft as long as she wants, will hopefully have a few years ahead to put in some serious work.
Thanks for all who have commented on this thread, nice to read positive feedback after things went pear shaped with the last pup. This one is here for the long haul for sure.
Cheers.

Looking good mate, I'm sure she won't disappoint !

she's yours if you want to swap for a 60kg bull cross/stack of outdated Countrymans Weekly/6 tins of Pedigree Chum

Looking well, nice rangy sort, won't grow but should fill/strengthen out as she matures. Hopefully you'll have plenty of seasons for her to do her stuff

cheers! Yeah she's still a bit lightweight, i went abroad the other week and had to leave her with a friend for 10 days, they fed her absolute crap budget dry and she dropped 3kg and lost what muscle she had started to build. Scary really the difference diet makes. She's back on the quality raw now though so will hopefully keep improving condition and put some strength into those chicken legs
