baw 4,360
I think your right Wilf , he does seem to struggle with his weight/fitness , probably genetic , his old fella was a decent boxer ,as soon as he stopped his weight ballooned and his ma fights a constant battle with putting beef on . All the more reason to poach in the box but Rooney has opted to go deep instead. Hartson had a weight issue, he was prolific in the box.
WILF 46,965
I said a split second to compose lol, they can do it without thinking that's for sure. Samaras is like that, longer he has the worse he is. Best player I've seen in the flesh who could score from nothing, have bags of time and still produce the goods was Larsson. He truly was an exceptional player. Its all about belief mate, belief is when you dont even consider the fact that you may miss.........you just know its going in

Ahh, if you say he is playing deeper then he may be struggling with his pace as when you loose a few yards its easier to play deeper than off the shoulder Edited May 30, 2013 by WILF
baw 4,360
Hartson never had pace lol, Robbie fowler? I think he's going deeper due to lack of confidence. He always was a box to box striker, I just don't see him as an out and out striker.

What age is this finished Rooney? Yes let's see how you do against brazil away, I'm sure you'll do much better than you did against Ireland at home what's your prediction Stewie? Brazil ain't what they were but ill go for a reserved 2-0 home win
stewie 3,387
care to take this off line....... lol lol you no we are better than last nights effort mate but lets not forget ireland ARE improving rapidly under trappotoni.....after england there defo second best in our little 5 nation bragging rights contest..... then wales lol brazil straight after this game is perfect imo and even if we get stuffed its a friendly and its better to get stuffed now and sort the problems out, instead of just being shite year in year out like the "mighty" tartan army pmsl id look at it as a warm up for the world cup which no doubt you scots will be watching and celebrating with joy at every england f**k up along the way and ill end up offering to fight the whole of scotland again and why do you bring a swede into it and a welshman when your scottish??? strange wee boy you are at times lol
stewie 3,387
oh and im going to go with 1-1 in rio........
WILF 46,965
Hartson never had pace lol, Robbie fowler? I think he's going deeper due to lack of confidence. He always was a box to box striker, I just don't see him as an out and out striker. He had enough matey and to be honest IMHO he was a lot stronger and used his strength well and there is is difference between how fast you are chasing a ball and how fast you are with a ball at your feet. And, in all honesty Hartson probably wasnt as good as Rooney and nor was Fowler.......Rooney is a lot more versatile IMHO but I think physically he has a limited window in his playing career . baw 4,360
Pmsl Stewie, both the players I mentioned I've watched in the flesh for Celtic, I wouldn't open the curtains to watch Scotland play in my garden I've heard this excuse we aren't as bad as we were last night a million times. And yes, I will celebrate every failing you lot have, why, because in the build up to the game you'll be doing the exact same as you did yesterday, bum them up to f**k. But be rest assured. I'll help to deflate your ego

WILF 46,965
Amazingly enough, I agree with Baw.......lets face facts, if you like good football then you wouldnt pay to go and see England. As a team, England are mediocre at best.........no one has figured out why in the last 46 years so I dont suppose we will do it here !!! We never seem comfortable, dont know why, but we dont. Couldn't agree with you more wilf, spot on in everything you say. I think Rooneys early form was his downfall. He looks the type to give 100% in training etc so I don't think its went to his head like some players who are happy to pick up a wage. If he kept on improving from his early career, what a player he would have been. But he didn't and won't now. England need goal scorers and Rooney isn't the answer. You don't look comfortable. You look good for 10 minutes, passing, running, looking dangerous then some backwater team strings a couple of passes together and you look terrified, hurried passes to no one etc. it's mental to watch as a neutral. You see millions of £'s of quality players really struggle to do the basics at times. It must be a confidence thing. Is it due to the pressure from the fans/media expecting to always win, I dunno.
