baw 4,360
Just remembered about this game. How many did England win by in their big open park? Did wonder kid Rooney get a hat trick?anyone got the stats ? Shots on target ? The only stat that matters is 1-1. f***ing exactly Johnny. I couldn't care less if Rooney had 20 shots saved, he's paid to score goals not work the keeper.

But i do think Rooney (not) the player he was, he seem to have peaked at a young age, and not got any better as he got older.Regards England Team we just not good enough, unless there some real top young talent coming through, which (dont) seem to be happening we will stay at this level . baw 4,360
Agree bird, Rooney exploded on the scene, had bags of potential and petered out. England's Definately not what they were or think they are but I'm sure the media will do a sterling job telling us they are. The Germans are streets ahead domestically and internationally

The Germans are streets ahead domestically and internationally Can't disagree with any of that mate, I think Wilshere makes a big difference now in the midfield ( we looked 1 paced), chamberlain will be a decent but his end product is not there yet, and I've never been sure on Walcott But Rooney just doesn't seem as explosive as he was, he plays deep and can pass the ball well but he was our most prolific goal scorer we still need that IMO

They stuck with the old players too long. Instead of blooding the new boys in, they're thrown in and expected to hit the ground running. I think they have the talent to give a good side a beating, but even Scotland muster that once in a while

That's true bird. I don't know about you guys but when I see the England team I see them more a collection of players than a team. You've had some fine talent and done nothing. They don't seem to play for each other. Scotland are keek but they play more as a team. If you mixed our spirit and your talent, you'd do a lot better.

The Germans are streets ahead domestically and internationally Looking at Rooneys build, he must find it extremely hard to stay in good shape as he looks genetically pre-disposed to be a fat c**t.....my guess is that he would be the type to go down hill physically very fast. He will definately not be in the kind of shape that the likes of Paolo Maldini or Billy Bonds was at 40 I didnt bother to watch the game as I dont really ever bother watching England because I think their football is shite, but if people are saying Rooney got a lot of shots off then I will give him a bit of lea way on that, shome times as a forward it just wont go in no matter what you do. All a forward can do is keep creating the space and getting the shots away, sometimes they go in, sometimes they dont.

I'd agree with that wilf if Rooney was in form like say messi but its more hit and hope with him. It's amazing how a confident striker only needs a split second to compose himself and find the target whereas out of form one can try all night.

Strikers on form dont even think about it mate, they just know where the goal is and it gos in.......its when they think about it too much is when they start missing. Look at Walcott, dont have the confidence so is always in two minds weather to pull the trigger or lay it off and has a habit of overplaying in the box.......thats why he will never be a top class goal scorer
Astanley 11,568
I think your right Wilf , he does seem to struggle with his weight/fitness , probably genetic , his old fella was a decent boxer ,as soon as he stopped his weight ballooned and his ma fights a constant battle with putting beef on . baw 4,360
I said a split second to compose lol, they can do it without thinking that's for sure. Samaras is like that, longer he has the worse he is. Best player I've seen in the flesh who could score from nothing, have bags of time and still produce the goods was Larsson. He truly was an exceptional player.
