budharley 945
I have only ever known two, I never knew my mums mum and dad they died when she was a child , I lost my grandad in February 2 months before my youngest son was born I really hoped he would get to see him but it wasn't to be . they turned his dialysis machine off as it wasn't helping then he lasted four days and died at home. The worst part about it was seeing such a strong minded man deteriorate to the point he was unrecognisable as my granddad I knew . r.i.p grandad
Ossie n Arch 1,682
We both have neither Grandparents or Parents left now. I became an orphan at 34, my wife at 30. The worst parts about having lost all your GPs and Parents is not having anyone to ask advice off when you really need it (Now matter how old you are) and no one comes round for Sunday dinner. Chin up Malt, remember the good times.

Lab 10,979
A sad day Malt mate.............. I have 2 grandparents left on my Dads side.............typical Catholics still going strong, must be the holy water and trips to Lourdes that done it... Lost my gran on my mums side when i was young. Struggle to remember anytime i spent with her. But the one that got me was losing my Grandad back in 2009........proper country/hunting man and knew all the tricks of the trades in that area. Always a strong man, ex marine and took no shit...........I try not to think back to the times when he was in the height of pain through bone cancer, it wasn't nice and the person that passed away on that hospital bed wasn't the Grandad that i knew and loved. His photo takes pride of place on my shelf.......hope he's looking down thinking am doing things right....... Chin up Malt buddy........

Nik_B 3,790
All mine have now passed away. My grandmother on my dad's side was a true inspiration. She lost a leg after being run over by a bus in the 1920s but worked hard all her life, My grandad (her husband) died when my dad was 3 and my grandmother had to bring him up a single parent as well. Not once was she ever described as disabled and if you had said that she's have smacked you round the head. Nor did she ever bother claiming any of the extra benefits she could have either. I named my second daughter Phoebe after her. Sorry to hear your situation but she must be proud of you.
