tiger82 43
If you were to keep one or two ferrets what would it be, both can be good workers Hobs like being alone most of the time. Jills need to be breed ect. Wondering what to keep this year I normally have a jill but they need to be breed spade ect. so maybe a good working hob. Edited May 28, 2013 by tiger82 Quote Link to post
Country Joe 1,411
I prefer two working Jills, there a lot lighter on the back, I do have a vacectomied hob, really just kept to bring them out, but i do give him a go, to keep him fit, and interested. Quote Link to post
The one 8,503
Ten jills and two hobs cover most burrows for me , two would limit me to twenty hole burrows Quote Link to post
Country Joe 1,411
Planning to do quite a bit Ferreting this Season with Lakelandratcher, who brings his, and with mine, gives us enough workers. Quote Link to post

I'd disagree with both mate, I keep four hobs together all year round, and jills can be run with a vac hob, so stops them needing to be bred. I keep a mix of jills and hobs, both because it provides me with different ferrets for different situations and because I just like having both about the place. 1 Quote Link to post
Guest norseman
one of each for me, usually the jill goes in first and if theres a stubborn coney left in goes the bigun 3 Quote Link to post

Next season I plan on using 2 jills and 1 strong hob for backup. Edited May 28, 2013 by pie-eater 1 Quote Link to post
Neal 1,873
I'm currently ferretless after loosing my two jills at the tail end of last season to illness. However, I preferred my previous working team of fully vasectomised hobs due to the added stamina. They were more likely to get occasionaly tangled in the nets but as I walk to my permission I needed something which could last longer. Quote Link to post
youcanthide...BANG 1,051
for me i use hobs for falconry as theres no nets to tangle in and they work the same at the end of the day than when they started it. but prefer to use my mates jills when netting up as your not constantly re-setting nets and untangling ferrets Quote Link to post
