villaman 9,983
Cheers guys, it was a good night of relaxed shooting after my initial outburst and swearing at my scope being on the pish and having to keep undoing the mounts to line it up properly ha ha. What was impressive was a member of the range who said he's ranked 8th in the country at standing unsupported shooting and said the groups we produced he could also achieve at 25 yards. Having previously seen his target cards I don't doubt him for a second. Said he's trained day in day out for 6 years to get to that standard! Just shows what dedication and a passion for the sport can achieve! Phil Yeah he said he shot a bunny last week at 75 yards standing unsupported at the club . Got to take your hat off to that type of skill. You put that on some of the other forums they would laugh at you and say it cant be done ,just shows you what can be done 1 Quote Link to post
Mawders 595
Yeah I know mate! Even he said he hasn't told many people through fear of the back lash! My response to that was, "if its in your capability then why not"! Quote Link to post

If i practiced for 6 years day in and day out i would hope that i could shoot a hell of a lot better than the average man with a air rifle. We didnt see him do it but i dont think he needed to lie looking at his groups tonight with his AA S400 as they were very nice. Its a case of people thinking that just because they cant do it when they think they are a great shot that no one can. Utter rubbish. Edited May 27, 2013 by zini 2 Quote Link to post

Mawders 595
Hi dark, Tbh it's expensive for what it is. £17 a month. You can only shoot air rifles on mon, tues nights for 3 hours. Then Saturday or Sunday morning for about 4 hours. The rest of the nights its for people with air pistols, archery or rim fire boys. The indoor range only goes to 30 yards and can seat about 12 people all shooting at the same time, so if its busy which it has been of late you might have to wait. Then you have to factor in some Monday and Tuesday nights every month the air cadets come in and so the range is for them. They open up a small part for paying members but restrict the distance to 20 yards and only about 6 people can shoot. If I could go every night I would say it is worth the money but as you can only go a few times a week due to the restrictions I say it isn't worth the money especially if you have other places you can go and shoot like permissions. I only use it to zero my scope knowing its a windless environment. As I'm into hunting and not shooting compitition cards I don't get the full benefit of being a member, if you want to get into bench rested compitition shooting then its worth it. All in all ill continue to pay and use it for practice as its good for those days when you want to go out but its raining or your perm is a good drive away and you don't have the time to get up there. I would say through if I had a perm with an indoor barn I would sooner save my money and go up there mate. Phil Quote Link to post

Mawders 595
Cheers Dark, Your lucky to have a warehouse to shoot in! Not alot of people get to do that! I would actually have a smile on my face going to work lol. Phil Quote Link to post
villaman 9,983
We are very lucky and have a old chicken building to shoot in about yards long. Quote Link to post

zini 1,939
When the warmer weather comes Phil we will have to go outside on the 55 yard range Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
Great post Phil. Always good to read of meetings like this and top shooting coming out of it. Shooting with Si and Davy is a pleasure of this sport and I'm not surprised to see you've been wringing out some blistering accuracy with such a session as this. He's very infectious is our Si when you get shooting alongside him. Your rifle suddenly developes a 6th gear in its accuracy!. Looks like I'm going to have to buy a Pro Sport and order a Custom Stock's walnut sporter to put it into. Hate to be missing out on such a great rifle. Damn you Air Arms for not making it commercially available for us left-handers! Simon Quote Link to post
audiguypaul 28
is the only way to describe it. Quote Link to post
Mawders 595
Totally agree si, just got to wait for this rubbish weather to finish! Cheers pianoman and audiguypaul, si's probably the best shooter I've had the pleasure to shoot alongside and what he can do with an air rifle is nothing short of amazing. He really does get you pushing your skills. Roll on the warmer weather! Phil Quote Link to post
