Young Deaths With Our Dogs

Recommended Posts

Just talking earlier with a friend about dogs of our own with have died well before their time, also of friends dogs which have. It's right how its always the dog's with promise and the highest expectations which seem to go. I trained a lovely first cross bull grey few years ago which got to about 18 month and everything had just come together and she jumped a fence to fast and slipped two disks in her back....... got put to sleep. Still think about what might of been now 5 years on. Broken legs, drowned, ran over, unseen ditches. so many dangers for our dog's. Wouldn't mind hearing few stories about the best day/run/night out you might remember before your dog left early so to say

This was a bitch I lost not so long ago and she was only just over 2 years old,a cracking little bitch that always did me proud and caught a lot of gear in her first season, plenty of lads seen her run

Pip pedigree whippet just turned two years old, turning into a decent rabbiting dog. Lost him last Month, he raised a rabbit in a reed bed, and caught it, as it went down the bury, but went over, and

Mate...I have lost my share...of both lurchers and terriers in the last 30 odd years...but the good days have by far and away outweighed the bad...

I firmly believe the more you do the more you stand to lose...if you're running the gauntlet nightly/daily...week after week...it's only a matter of time before something breaks...

I've lost two big dogs in as many years...it never gets easier...you either pick up the pieces or pack it in altogether...the latter for me isn't an option...

This was a bitch I lost not so long ago and she was only just over 2 years old,a cracking little bitch that always did me proud and caught a lot of gear in her first season, plenty of lads seen her run and everybody enjoyed watching her run,a real fast runner with a deadly mouth,i had nursed her through a bad injury and had her bang on to start the season and took her out on cotherstone moor for a good stretch and she broke her neck in a freak accident, she died in my arms and I was f***ing devastated as was my lass and boys when I got home and told them, she was the sort of bitch that was a joy to be around and was boss of my lot,a real character and very much missed

Lost a great dog last year, not a worker but jesus did I love that dog. Last time I ever had him out we just sat up the fields and watched the sun go down. Something just went wrong in his back and he had to be pts at the age of 4. I'll never find another dog like him :(
