Walshie, your clearly missing the point with your couldn't be arsed to vote. Some of us CHOSE not to vote. I know that's hard for someone who votes to comprehend but its true. Some of us are sick of voting in crooked organizations who promise everything and deliver nothing. Rape our land then f**k off to America. Can't you understand why some of us don't want to vote in these charlatans or am I wasting my time and its all bleet bleet must vote bleet bleet.....

Sorry. I should have worded my last comment as "Chose not to vote party". THEY won't get in power either will they?

I can assure you I haven't missed the point, and your opinion is noted. I agree with lots of things you say, but on this point I don't.

No, we don't want these limp-wristed spineless jellyfish running our country, but until there is a viable option, it is all we have.

Aaaaaaaarrgghh! :wallbash:

And for that reason..............I'm out.

I know walshie, I wish they were worth voting on but they ain't. Ukip, ain't sure about. Unknown quantity that remind me of the nazis. The rest, all crooks. I don't vote for that reason. I wouldn't vote in an unknown quantity and anyone who is voting one of the other parties, ask yourself if they've lied to win seats in the past. Another wrong that's just brushed off as expected with politicians. How can you vote when you know they are lying? I just don't get it but that's me :)

I believe voting should be mandatory, true democracy in any country can only be achieved will the active participation of its citizens!

As for the British participation in middle east conflicts, I think it's time Britain realized the empire has ended and stop trying to rule the world and concentrated on law and order in our own country. If the USA wants to be the policeman of the world let them get on with it.

As for the attacks on the Muslim religion, why tar them all with the same brush? It's like blaming catholic sexual abuse on the salvation army, i have friends who are Muslim, who find the actions of the extremist groups indefensible. As for those who are members of any extremist groups and planning terrorism, treat it as treason, maximum sentence for which is life imprisonment or send them home.

Treason is no longer available thanks to Mr Blair

Surely if someone can remove a crime like that, someone with a spine can reinstate it?

I'm pretty sure Treason is still an crime. What Tony blair did with the Crime and Disorder Act was formally abolish the death penalty for Treason and Piracy which were the only two crimes where the maximum punishment formally remained as the death penalty. I believe Treason is still a crime and the maximum punishment is life in prisonment.

"Treason's like an elephant on the doorstep. You recognise it when you see it.

"And if you take up arms against your own country, your own state, whether in that state or abroad against that state's agents, that's an offence under the 1351 (Treason) Act."

Lord Falconer thinks the laws remaining in force "probably do send an unhelpful signal" as far as individual rights and freedom of speech are concerned.

But they have been kept, he suspects, because "there is an uneasy sense that there may be something which one can't imagine which would be so offensive to the collective view of the country…where treason might be of value".

So the idea of treason is still with us, the word is still used, even if Britain has not followed the US in reviving the use of treason law.

There is, for many, still a sense of a line not to be crossed, a betrayal too far in undermining your country.
