Half the trouble is we no longer understand the Arab/ Muslim world......we think they should be like us which they don't want to be

Now in the days of the empire we understood them well, we befriended the bloke at the top and made sure he was well looked after and he kept the rest in line

 

See, from what I can see of it, in the Arab / Muslim world the bloke at the top has a big stick and he uses it to keep everybody underneath him in line until he dies or someone with a bigger stick comes along......it has worked well for thousands of years, they are comfortable with the system and it works

 

Now all of a sudden, western do gooder politicians want to rock over to these places and start trying to westernise them and they don't want it, they think many of our ways are vulgar

 

But no, we think we can change all that by fetching them over in droves and invading their countries......it's a no win IMHO

 

The politicians can play the politically correct do gooder while our lads pay for the previllage with their blood

 

The sooner we can all feel comfortable with just saying " people are different so lets leave them alone" then the sooner the cream of our young people can stop dieing !!!

 

If you want to live in the west then you behave as a westerner and if you want to live in a Muslim country then you behave according to their tradition......not this one size fits all world view JMHO

The current afghan conflict began as purely a hunt for bin laden and the terrorist closest to him, then a bit of smoke and mirrors later, it became freeing the afghan people ??......when did that happen?

 

So what if they didn't let women go to school, so what about anything else they did.....it's their bloody business and IMHO not worth one British life

 

As usual, the politicians didn't know how to get out of something they got into !!.....so lets just let a heap of young men and women die until we find the exit !!

Lets be honest, the politicians couldn't do what it would take to defeat these people and we would be outcast in the world.......the only time the Muslims got sorted in Europe was in the Balkans.......do we have the will for that?.....men, women and children ironed out en masse ?.....I doubt it.
