A bleary eyed and very tired 7 year old was dragged out of his bed at 4.00 yesterday morning, after tales of bubbling tench and bream on the canal to get him exited I'm not sure if he slept at all....

you cant beat being up and about at that time of day its a different world

I take the terriers over the fields early morning most Saturdays ---you cant beat a walk through the woods when the suns coming through and the bird song is magical -- I cook a fry up when I get back

Cheers lads,

Your not wrong there stig, I love early mornings, the dawn chorus when everything starts waking up..

I got home to a nice roast and had a quick hours snooze in The garden in the sun happy days lol

Great stuff! :good: I remember my old man waking me up in the middle of the night to go sea fishing when I was a youngster! :)

Was never into course/river fishing that much, only had one river local with a few brown trout in it. I quite like the idea of setting up on a bank and not moving for a few hours, you don't get to do that too often when you fish the coast.. :(

I've always done a bit of everything Malt, from shore to wrecking and rivers/ canals... Done a bit if fly fishing but not a lot.... Caught a fair few trout though ( they live worms, maggots and spinners I've noticed lol)

As I said on the bass post I love live eel fishing for bass at the minute, using coarse rods and reels, great fun mate..

But I do like to a fish a nice bit if river for chub and roach on a stick float, one of my favourite methods...

I'm going to get up your way for a fish in the next year or so, done a fair bit in the channel ( Cardiff, ogmore, Barry, monknash etc) but haven't fished Pembrokeshire, looks a lovely place mate..

Great write up mate , love a bit of Tench fishing , got me itching now haven`t been this year yet , your boy is made up , great stuff

Thanks mate,

I planned to fish it again on Sunday, but after walking it Saturday evening I changed my mind, the water level is back up which means cold water has been poured in from the river, this is not usually good for the fishing... I ended up on a club water, couple of ponds, not really my cup of tea tbh but caught a few fish and got me out...

Same here mate, I've fished the mark where that was caught for over 20 years, my old man even longer and neither of us have caught anything near that thing! My old man took it real personal when he saw that picture, he was convinced that fish was out there all the time waiting for his line!

Sod's law mate, my brothers the spawny one in our family.. He's not really a fisherman as such but will have the odd day out, and always catches the biggest fish... He had a 16lb turbot on a trip to Alderney, which got his photo in Sea Angler lol, a 19lb pollack wrecking out of Dartmouth... Plus others, he reckons it's skill.... Lol
