Large Litters

mine is the opposite, two small litters on the trot, different hobs used, 4 and just three this time with one dead.

I reckon younger jills have the largest litters and as they get older the litters get smaller ,so maybe better waiting till a jills proved herself and breed from her at 4,5 years of age ?.

mine had 12 15 days ago all ok and her mother had 5, 5 days ago again all ok think it just depends on nature really too how many you end up with. got another 3 gills due next month

thats some amount of ferrets,ferret, :laugh:

Mine were born a week ago, but I haven't checked how many there are yet as the nest box is enclosed. I like to leave them to it for the first couple of weeks. They are out of two very good workers so fingers crossed....

17 is the biggest litter Ive heard of, any possibility there was two pregnant jills in the same cage? :hmm:

My very first litters have been my biggest. I bred both my jills when I was 20, and after chatting as to how many to expect, the old boy who owned the hob assured me they would both have small litters being first time mums. One had 12 and the other had 13...
