Advice On How To Set Rabbit Snares

Recommended Posts

Off topic I know, but before you go out snaring make sure you're familiar with re-tensioning them. Takes a bit of practice but easy enough once you've got the hang of it.

Will save you time when out in the field if you're not already familiar with how to do it.

Aye four fingers is about right. Not into snares anymore although have done lots in the past.

did you get many with your 4 finger high setting?

Aye plenty........used it mainly on the entrance to the burrows. If on hedgreows maybe slightly higher depending on the ground. As for it being crap .....well opinions vary

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but you will find that most professionals, and just about anyone who catches any number of rabbits will now be laughing at 'four finger' high snare sets.

As Mr Tea Pot says, it depends on the terrain and foliage cover where you are setting, but I've rarely set at less than 7 inches except on fence lines.

There are plenty of articles and topics in the FAQ section above.
