Hudson 5
Looking at an older 97k (the one without the full fish scales etc), and just wondering if the older models are some how better than the newer ones which i have heard can have QA issues, Quote Link to post
barrywhite 282
I have read that 97 and 77 s with the older smaller diameter pistons are better guns at 12 ftlbs .I have a 97 with the larger diameter piston and the older stock .It is a very good Quote Link to post
Hudson 5
I did not know the reasons but i also read that the steel used in the older guns was better.... not sure about this one though. Quote Link to post
villaman 9,982
I picked up a 2004 model to day in mint condition ,put a few falcon accuracy plus through it to zero in . At 30 yards kneeling shots I put 5 pellets on top of each other, I was amazed how good this gun is .in fact I stayed in to night I just can not put this gun down, cant wait for the morning now , Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
The older ones are much better built and finished. Edit....They were made in a time when engineers had the final say rather than accountants. Edited May 25, 2013 by andyfr1968 1 Quote Link to post

Hudson 5
Ok then, if the '' older '' ones are better, just how old would i need to go to get one, when did the ' new ' ones come on line ? Quote Link to post
barrywhite 282
I had a hw 35 in it 1978 it was crap .Just get any old 97k it may be fine but like all thing it may be s... .I would be happy to get a new 97, if it looked like s... in the shop then I would not .You could get an old gun that is s... or a new gun that is fine I think you are worrying over nothing .The only difference between old and new is piston size and you will have to get a very old gun for that to matter .but in a country were there is no power limit they will want newer guns.
