people who take it too seriously , I used to go out with a fella who was deadly serious about it , one night he had a fox in the beam and told me to call it in , so I shouted at the top of my voice "

And your defo not supposed to F****k em!

People who smoke whilst out lamping

Cheers, D.

Just courious, why?

Quarry can pick up the smell and are more aware.

Walking into the wind? If they can smell the smoke then you are doing it all wrong. it really make me laugh when people say all the rabbits were on the hedges. Why? Because they put them there with bad field craft. I have lost count of the times I have been told it does not matter. I used to try and educate them at first, now I just say "is it"?

Glad you know it all. IF and its a big IF, every time you lamped you could be down wind of the game, it would make sense, you obviously havent been out enough times to realise that that thats not always possible.

Bad field craft! Another THL expert.

Feck off .

Now now boys....

Dytkos.... TC is right.... its better to be downwind....

However you are also right in saying it is not always possible....

I never give much thoght into the wind direction when working the dogs of an evening

Neither did I till I started long netting, it was only then that I could see just how many rabbits I was missing. Now if it means a longer walk just to enter the field correctly for the wind direction, then I take the walk.

That said, sometimes it is not possible to get into the field correctly I agree, so I leave it till it is.

My apologies for getting abusive towards you :icon_redface::icon_redface::icon_redface:

What I was trying to say was that if there is only one way of getting into a field and the wind is blowing in the same direction, your scent is going to be going towards the quarry.

If you are smoking the smell is far greater than your natural smell and will inevitably alert the game
