walshie 2,804
So you need someone in power with a spine AND who's popular? Never going to happen, because to have a spine, you must have stood up to someone sometime - hence making enemies. Cameron has it so, so wrong, thinking by appeasing everyone he is making himself popular. He is neither strong or popular. Every time he opens his mouth, he loses more voters. Thatcher or Churchill would have sorted it whether you liked them or not.

Malt 379
So in conclusion, If Thatcher was PM this would'nt be happening but equally because she was PM it is? Thats the thing mate, real leadership isn't about being popular as Churchill found out in his second spell.. They are elected to make the hard choices, serve, and then take the fall for the country if need be. They are lucky their fall doesn't often include the very real chance of dying like the soldiers who also serve this country..
JDHUNTING 1,817
I think politics should be more about individuals than parties theirs no need for different constituances anymore as one person an a keyboard can communicate to the whole world. a prime minister should be voted in to oversee the whole thing make the final decision an defense education etc should be left with experts in these fields an stay in the role if there doing a good job regardless of whose voted in an out the top jobs. Modern politics is just a gravy train now from the smallest council to the highest office.
