Bosun11 537
Just thought I'd put up a few pics of my mates old dog Stripe after a walk this evening. He's twelve now, at least! Just lurcher x lurcher bred, ain't got a clue whats in him, only the names of the dogs he's out of, goin back a fair few generations now. All his life he's been a laid back 'easy' dog, almost invisible at home and in the field he's sommat else. His tally of gear over the years is quite something. He's as hard as feckin nails, with a gob like a steel trap and he's still working. Even at this age, he'd still put many to shame. Just a good 'ol Scouse lurcher... Quote Link to post
.WARREN. 288
good to still be working at that age. Quote Link to post

Bosun11 537
Nice old dog. Ever been bred to anything ? He was never put to anything until recent, think everyone just took him for granted and went to more 'typey' dogs with 'fractions' in their pedigree! Then, when eventually tried, he produced nothing and we thought he was a jaffa. He recently lined a tidy cur type bitch and produced one pup. Vet said at his age he could sire anything from twelve to none, its a gamble. Probably shooting dust, so he needs a very wet bitch..!! To be honest, I'd love a pup out of him... Quote Link to post
fitchet 788
Shame that bossun. Sods law. I must admit i would love a dog of unkown breeding out of good honest workers that have seen plenty. There would be no set "bounderies" with such s type snd if it was any good would be a rollercoster of a career. But for now ill atick to what i know. All the best. 2 Quote Link to post

darbo 4,774
Nice to see a old dog that has lasted and is highly thought of. some people these days do seem very concerned with percentages of breeds in lurchers . pity it does not always work in theory. saw quite a few breeding unknown lurchers work ,more so in the 80s some good ones among them. i also agree with paulus sometimes you do take dogs for granted and dont realise what you have got till they have gone. 1 Quote Link to post
