fitchet 788
Yah so u don't have an agreement , hares young and old get killed In the winter , and I don't get up or go out to hunt hares like some people , pest control is what they are to me, so for your smart comment to hunting summer hares , who cares wat I do and it's nothin to do with you if I do day or night ! Doesn't make you a matter man than anyone else ! Wernt you also the person who reccomended a shock collar for a dog that yaps while running ? If hares are pest control to you kill enough in winter and you shouldnt need to hunt them in summer. If you hunt them in summer with dogs you have no respect for them. Simple. Atb Quote Link to post
low plains drifter 10,697
Bringing pups on or pest control, the same shit old excuses, any man that respects the most sporting of quarry sticks to sept/march,ive usually found the lads that go out in summer are never heard of in winter, its to much hardwork to keep a dog consistent on good winter quarry for them!. And here's me thinking you were the leader of the T shirt and Tattoo's summer daywalkers A team Quote Link to post

low plains drifter 10,697
Yep theres a few on here who do it to get there pics for the winter or just to do it becuase there dogs arnt any good on anything else. But i prefer to wait till hares have finished breeding. Same as any other true sportsman imo. At hares breed all year round !:/ But anyone who tries to suggest that they do not have a period of the year where they are waaaaay more likely to do so (not to mention successfully rear the young) does not know much about the country side! And uses that as an excuse to run them in the summer. There is absolutely no need to run hares in the summer ,those that do so should at least be honest and say I don't give a f**k about sportsmanship, or coursing pregnant /nursing hares and the possibility of leaving leverets to starve to death I'm doing it because i want to. Leverets have so many natural predators,I've heard even adult rabbits will kill them, the fact that they can still be found in good numbers in some places just goes to show what a survivor they really are, killing milky doe's is plain wrong, and if it is done in the name of pest control, surely netting and releasing would be the better option 2 Quote Link to post
jamesmc 582
Plenty of folk on here will have done it as daft kids....some will admit it,some won't....but you get older and learn that its a stupid thing to do....atb.... 1 Quote Link to post

R.A.W 1,987
i think we missing out on one thing .................... What about the dog ?. Surely they deserve the down time of the summer .my dogs do enough RABBITING during the winter to deserve a rest. it's too hot and too dry to ask a dog to push it self to the limit. why run the risk of injury especially to a young dog it's so easy to cause lasting damage to an underdeveloped pup If i just take my dogs for a stroll at this time of year there panting like good uns. as for keeping the dogs fit there are many less damaging ways. lure machines, a bike, a pair of trainers or even a tread mill. 4 Quote Link to post
