Been out for a good walk earlier on and if the hail stones that froze me to the bone today aswell as last night means the summer is here,I want a feckin refund, but I'm pretty sure there are a fair few

But anyone who tries to suggest that they do not have a period of the year where they are waaaaay more likely to do so (not to mention successfully rear the young) does not know much about the country side!

know much about the countryside , well it's a fact they breed all year round I said nothing about successful rearing, so coursing in the winter you still can kill a doe in young ! So don't try to educate me in the countryside !

That was not being debated. But killing a doe in young in winter is unlikely to make as much difference to the population as killing one in summer. Also if you caught ten does in summer and ten in winter, while you MAY if unlucky find one with young amongst your catch in winter, it could well be most or all in summer. The fact that they CAN breed all year round, when brought into a conversation such as this . . . . . . . just sounds like a hollow excuse for those who cannot stay their hand.

Yah so u don't have an agreement , hares young and old get killed In the winter , and I don't get up or go out to hunt hares like some people , pest control is what they are to me, so for your smart comment to hunting summer hares , who cares wat I do and it's nothin to do with you if I do day or night ! Doesn't make you a matter man than anyone else !

A young lad I know is running hares at the moment any killed two tonight. He says it is to keep the pup (14 month) keen and fit. I have had a few arguments with him about this I think it is stupid and shows how much he really doesn't have a clue about the dog game. anyone else actually do this?

And therein lies the problem...I was young once...and now I ain't anymore...and it's far too late for me to get on the ole high horse who goes by the name sanctimony...hopefully he'll learn...and you'll be able to rest assured that the hares down your way get to enjoy their summer break...happy days...

It's just sad that those young lads were not brought into the game by folk who educated them properly. The way I was brought into hunting, I knew what was 'right' and 'wrong' (in terms of sportsmanship etc) pretty much from the word go.

Spot on that I was brought Ito the game as soon as I could walk and shown the ways of a true hunter by my great grandad old time poacher he was and it's a shame that other young lads Wernt shown the right ways to do things  Edited by J.DOG

Iv found everyone looks at young lads as chavs that go out and poach and own a bullx and people dont take serious all youngesters are not the same same as Jdog was brought it to the game by a member of the family and taught right from wrong at a young age but yes I own a bullx haha

Bringing pups on or pest control, the same shit old excuses, any man that respects the most sporting of quarry sticks to sept/march,ive usually found the lads that go out in summer are never heard of in winter, its to much hardwork to keep a dog consistent on good winter quarry for them!.

And uses that as an excuse to run them in the summer. There is absolutely no need to run hares in the summer ,those that do so should at least be honest and say I don't give a f**k about sportsmanship, or coursing pregnant /nursing hares and the possibility of leaving leverets to starve to death I'm doing it because i want to.

The people i see out intentionally running Hares in the summer usually have one thing in common, more tattoo's than brain cells, oh, and the dogs arnt good enough to catch a Hare in January. Wankers the lot of them, buster.
