that i tried before i bought, well ive nearly bought. its been 25+ years since ive done any air gun shooting and things have moved on a bit since then.

I did a fair bit of reading and ended up thinkg i wanted a springer in 95 or 97, but really a pro sport but i thought they would be too much £££. Anyhow i nearly drove 2 hrs for a pro sport but it fell through (long story). After a bit more searching i found a dealer half hour away with an indoor range and a 2nd hand pro sport for sale. Off i pop today feeling like the cat that got the cream to find he has 2 2nd handpro sports in .177 and .22. After reading all the good stuff i thought i was on to a cert. Into the range i go and what a dissapointment, i just found it so cumbersome and really didnt like it, to say i was dissapointed was an understatement. On the wall was a 400 superlite, off to the range and what a difference, im in love, well almost, it was lovely and totally different to the pro sport. i also tried a 98 and a BSA Scorpion i think it was, which was nice but didnt feel the quality of the 400.

So i didnt part with my credit card there and then but he put the 410 by for me and im going back in the morning for another try of that and some others.

Im so glad i didnt just order what i thought i wanted and actually tired some out, the owner couldnt have been any more helpful and is happy for me to shoot all his guns til i find the right one, so i will but at the moment the 400 is winning hands down. Whilst there i ended up chatting with a few of the regulars who were also very helpful which was nice, as being a carp angler can be very clicky.

Well back i went and had another few rounds on the indoor range, chatted to a guy in the next booth who offered me a go on his 510 hunter multishot which i accepted, that was it i was sold, i thought the 400 was smooth but the 510 was superb, so im a few few £££ lighter but you only live once, and my new gun should be in for collection on wednesday, definately wont sleep tuesday night, and i found out the guy who let me use his 510 lives in a nearby village so we hope to get a permission or 2 together.

Wiltshire gun Center in Devizes, it has an 25m indoor range, they are building a 50m range upstairs and it has a FB range too but im not sure how long it is but a guy was shooting a Blase R93 7.62 in there, all built in the mouth of an old railway tunnel.

Im taking my .22 HW97KT and my .177 HW98 Rob.

The 3 pcps never get a look in these days unless im ratting or shooting bunnies at night from a vehicle.

The springers are just great and rewarding to shoot.
