Is The Deben A Good Finder

I'm in the proses of buying a finder and I was looking on the net and the deben mk 3 receiver seems to be ok what's it like anybody no thanks

I think the Deben MK 3 is the only ferret finder on the market. They are lovely to use with some practice, lots of good tutorials on you tube will give you an idea of how good they are.

Why not have a look for a 2nd hand MK1 Deben, these can be picked up reasonably and a lot of the guys prefer the older version as it is basically like a Geiger counter (Knocker box) and couldnt be easier to use.

I was lookn on the net but it seems that the mk3 is a better finder and I would rather spend the extra few pound if its the better job

I have a Mk 3m and its really good. They take a bit of practice to get used to. Just one tip- I always go 'search' mode, 'locate' mode and finally 'pinpoint' mode to get the reading before digging. The key is using the pin pointer I reckon. Mk1 are the essence of simplicity and easy to use- albeit no longer made so second hand is your'e only option there.

The Startrek cross Hawkwind bleeps that come from the mark3 will send you bananas.

I bought one, couldn't get rid quick enough, quite happy being a Dinosaur, will stick with my Mark1s.

never use the pinpoint thingy but the search option is what makes the mk3 far superior, saves a lot of time wondering about with the old box.

You might pick up a mk1 cheaper than a mk3 and i find it a lot easier to use

Mk 3 all the way ......once you get the hang of it its a godsend and highly accurate at finding your stinker underground. Used the mk1 and good bit of kit but wouldnt go back now gven the choice.
