Need Help With My Jill Desperately!

I have a Jill which I have had for many years and I fed her on chudleys ferret food until the pet shop in which I got it came under new management and stopped selling it. So we ended up having to buy James welbeloved ferret food and within about a month or so she had suddenly gained a lot of weight. Like obese kind of weight. So we found a new supplier to get chudleys and have been giving her that since and she appears to have lost some weight however now she has lost a lot of weight on her shoulders and legs and just genuinely weak. She did appear to be getting better and walking but she seems to now have taken a turn for the worst. She isn't able to go to the toilet properly she is just going where she is and she has made her tummy very sore and possibly blistered. I have no idea what to do and I have tried getting her to do exercise but she just seems so exhausted that I'm at my wits end trying to find a solution! Please don't get angry with me and slate me for this. It was all so gradual that It wasn't noticeable till it was too late. I don't want to have to have her put to sleep so could some possibly help a girl out? It would be much appreciated.

fook processed .........give it the most natural of meats,............rabbit ,....pidgeon,,,,,processed maybe tested blah blah but it has unatural chemicles in it ..........keep safe use raw chicken and mix in with food ........pheasant ,........any meat......

but firstly go to the vet and get diagnosis..............

My ferret is in real trouble, I'm at my wits end, I can't think of a solution.....if only there was a profession that specialised in diagnosing and treating medical conditions in animals, it would be such an easy solution!!! but as it is, the only thing I am able to do is create a profile on here and ask random people who (for all you know) have never seen a ferret in their lives.

 

As whippet 99 says, I would get to the vets first and foremost as it might have nothing to do with the processed shite you've fed it on, could be something that needs urgent attention. And then when you're back, bin all the crappy biscuits and give your ferret the food it's designed to eat, i.e. meat, proper meat! You sound like you care about your ferret, so surely a couple of quid a week on proper meat isn't too much to shell out?

Are you sure when you say it became 'obese' it was actually fat? Not a build of fluid? You should be able to tell the difference, but I have never in my life managed to get a ferret obese and I always let them eat as much as they like so even without seeing it I would bet it has nothing to do with the change of diet.

 

In future feed them rabbit/chicken/quail or whatever meat you can but mostly rabbit as that's what they are desinged to survive on. In the meantime I am sorry to say but it might have cancer of the liver or similar, it beggars belief you wouldn't take it to a vet asap. You asked not to be slated so you obviously know you are in the wrong, but what do you expect when you are letting your pet slowly die infront of you and won't do anything about it? Did you think by asking on a forum someone would offer some miracle fix-all cure?
