RubyTex 1,957
The systems a joke and it has been for years. An old girlfriend, sort of, was a single parent and she got all sorts! Rent paid, some kind of tax credits, child benefit, and other assorted payments, in all she got about £1300 a month in benefits alone plus she had a part time job of 16 hours a week which brought in about £500 extra. I worked full time and took home about £700 less than her If you want a kid, you should be made to prove you can pay for it
paulus 26
Some of these kids that are forced to survive through there childhood, like that young girl last night, are some of the brightest, versatile and most astute people you could ever Meet, If someone took the trouble to nurture this then just think what they might achieve in life. To just spoonfeed them enough cash for the likes of Brighthouse and Wonga to prey on them is such an awful shame and a complete waste of talent. And another few things to think on. All the people saying £400 a week bla bla then just remember all the working people with the same number of kids are entitled to and are as a general rule getting the same amount of benefit for your children, not one penny more or one penny less,(child benefit/child tax credits)plus you are also entitled to help with child care! So are you scum, scroungers etc aswell. I have worked for a long time for an ex-forces charity and my role as a caseworker brings me into contact with a wide variety of situations, there are ex-forces out there living identical lives admittedly they got to that point under different circumstances but they are still in the exact same predicament. Its very easy to get caught up in the politics of these types of programs, but then again that's exactly the reason why they are broadcast.
keepitcovert 842
One thing not mentioned, why do tv producers always turn out the same crap, trying to show that this type of thing is the norm, in the northern towns of this country. I worked in scunthorpe for a year and found the people great, unlike some of the idiots portrayed in this programme, when the steelworks hit the bad times it hit the town hard. Go to any town in this country north or south and you can find freeloading scumbags. So why do tv producers sat in their cosy little houses in berkshire, feel the need to portray northern towns and cities in the worst light possible.

Bosun11 537
Their was more too that young girl that meets the eye. It seemed like the biggest mistake she was making was that low life fella she had, dragging her down, damn shame... Was it just me or was anyone else taking notice of how good she had her dog... Proper dog imo, laid back, unrestrained, loyal, intelligent (to the point where it dropped back when they were arguing in the street). I know it was just a snap shot but I love that attitude... Wxm 1,638
If you want a kid, you should be made to prove you can pay for it No one knows what's around the corner pal I had a steady fulltime job worked there for 5 years and had my 2 eldest while working there so I was in a postion to provide for them then the place went down hill and laid off ne on 30 people unluckily I was 1 so then I turned "scum" claiming the dole for 6 months. I then got a temp job after sending cv after application form after cv I was there 3 months, while I was there as I knew it was only sick cover I was still applying for a permanent job, I finished that on the tues and started another job on the wed and I was there 12 months, were me and my partner had our lad. they promised you everything until you hit the just short of 12 month mark then the under handed fcuks Fcuked me over. Little did I know this was a common trate with them and in 12 months they churned out 15 people while I was there. Since then I've done agency work but when you have a family to support then you can't be promised 3 - 6 months work and end up with 2 - 6 weeks then weeks with out so in cases you can see why some people stay on the dole as it is a safety net for them. To day I hope will change all this as I have an appointment with a business planer / helper to start my own business
