get the cage trap set !!!!!

Cage trap and dispose of the bloody moggys

I would trap and dispatch humanely, especially the one that killed your ferret.   Shaking my head at the suggestions to poison with anti freeze, bleach or whatever, why would you want to deliberatel

Rob and Astral what are your veiws on pest contol in general ?? Would you live trap rats and mice and dispatch by hand ??

I would emagine anyone poisening "vermin" would ensure they were conducting themself within the law and would be mindful that none target specise and domestic animals where unharmed.

I believe pest control and dispatching problem animals is fine. In fact, I'd be happy to lend a hand.

I also did not say I was out and out against the use of poison, but I am against the use of anti-freeze as was specifically mentioned.

It takes hours to kill, in a truly horrible and painful way, and I have enough respect for animals that I would not inflict that on a rat. Especially when there are specific poisons that work much quicker/ more efficiently and are actually designed for the job, Anti-freeze goes in your car.

Well it's good that you've been informed, but apparently some seem to reckon it's main use is vermin poison!

I understand antifreeze is a grim way to go.......

But you have your solution, they're accepted as ferral and that's from the horses mouth so to speak. If that was the situation in my garden I'd be trapping and shooting every last one I could! It's legal in this case but it still pays to have discretion. ;)

My garden on the other hand is covered in cat shit and I believe they are all 'pets'........... so legally culling them isn't an option. What the dogs catch though can't be helped. :whistling:

Shaking my head at the suggestions to poison with anti freeze, bleach or whatever, why would you want to deliberately inflict a proper agonising death on something that at the end of the day is just doing what comes naturally to it? It really does make me wonder about some of the people on here!!

Couldn't agree more pal humane kill only, if not they just giving us a bad name.

I am amazed a cat could kill a ferret before you would get to it, my only experience of the two mixing left the cat shaken up and very much the loser. I also let my ferrets run round the garden but I will keep a closer eye out from now on as it never occured to me they were at any risk. Having said that, cats don't ever come in my garden as if I ever see them try or walk along the fence I let the dog out, although he is a little full-on and popped a fence panel out last time

Could you try putting carpet spikes (whatever they are called) along the fence? I was going to do that as it seems like the least bother and long term solution, but I wouldn't underestimate their memory as if they have a bad experience in your garden they won't come back in a hurry (slingshot with paintballs? dog? well aimed tennis ball?).

They were both down the side of my compost heap and i couldnt actually see the pair of them till i got into the bushes next to them .....think the Tom cat has been using the bush as his sleeping bed ...the ground is well comoacted where its been used regulary and its out of site. All it takes is one bite in the right place and an animal can be gone. Going to invest in some plants that the cats hate and getting loan of a feral trap too. Humanely done and wont be shitting and coming in m garden anymore. May even get a thank you from the neighbor for saving him money bloody cat food. :censored:

Domestic cats are protected by law, it is an offence to trap, injure or kill them.

Feral cats are a different matter however it become a grey area in residential areas.

Now I have not advised anyone to poisen a cat mearly to fed it with a few extra seasonings.. There are certain house hold products that wont kill cats and will repel them from the area.

If the Cat was killing chickens and fecking about around Karp pounds.. I would shoot it with out hesatation. I would bill the old b*****d feeding them cats for my ferret and friendly warn him his cats will slowly disappear if he dose not keep them in his own house..

Cats reek havoc and Cat owners are blind and oblivious to what little tiddles gets up to..

Yeah it come natural to them, and so does it when it concerns my dog chasing deer but that would be poor defence, for me when in standing court..

Cats should be kept indoors. Why should they be able to roam and behave like a wild animal but have no accountability for there actions ??

Shitting in kids sand pits, flower beds and killing song birds for fun.. I had to stop feeding birds at my last house as it was cruel I was baiting them for the cats..

I cant stand cats, my ex girlfriend kept them and I put up with them.. They are horride, shiting in litter trays and walking all over worktops were you make food..

I hope you dont loose anymore ferrets mate and you get your problem sorted one way or another...

No problem whatsoever with poisoning rats, mice or whatever else needs poisoning....my issue is not with poisoning, or removing a pest, i.e. a feral cat in this case. The fact is, poisons have been designed and developed to kill their intended targets as quickly and humanely as possible. Just banging down a toxic chemical that will kill whatever eats it, is completely immoral IMO, especially when the chosen chemical is something that is going to result in an unnecessarily prolonged and agonising death...i.e. kitchen products, anti freeze etc.

Just out of interest, what additive could you possibly add to a food that would repel a cat from a garden???? Spreading things round the garden maybe, but not added to the food! Sounds a lot like back peddling to me.
