THELURCHERANDLONGDOG 91
Personally I don't like any of those sort of collars or leads for general work , they get snagged easily in hedges etc and release and they are fiddely in the dark , i use and allways will use a standard collar with a slip made from any thing cheap such as blue rope or baler twine. I have allways run my dogs with collars on aswell and never had a problem with getting hung up on fences and branches etc and from some of the barbed wire marks and scars the collars have had on them from time to time im glad the dogs have worked in them. Phil Lloyd 10,738
Personaly,..I find those slip lead contraptions to be more akin, to items of bondage.. They are fiddly diddly wee things, and I have found, that on the rare occasions, when a dog needs to be physically restrained,.such as walking out across the stubble during the day, with several other lurchers on slips,...it is far better, to thread a nice wide comfortable strap through a collar, and take it from there.. Easy peasy... The 'quick release' slip leads were all the vogue back in the 1980s.. Every field sports supplier was selling his own variety,..but,..they were never for me,..far too awkward,.more so, after dark.. Edited May 20, 2013 by CHALKWARREN 1 Quote Link to post
paulus 26
I have a habit of loosing slip leads so now I just use string style field trial leads for both day and nights. Quote Link to post
