how many rods are you allowed to fish?how much space in distance between the pegs?will each person have a keepnet?they will have to be carp/barbel friendly and people will need unhooking mats etc?looking forward to this men-got me new engine going in my truck tuesday so it can be used to get the old cnuts and kit next to the river-lol-are there any bait resrictions on the stretch? like no salmon eggs :whistling: atb bobby

Hi Mate

The pegs are going to be sorted on the morning by Arch, there should be a decent distance though as at the moment theres only around 18 fishing,

1 rod in the water at any 1 time... set up as many as you want but fish 1 at a time,

big carp or barbel would be better to be weighed and released soon after capture IMO, Keepnets don't do them any good, we've got a few lads happy to help out so that shouldnt be a problem

Fish welfare should be paramount, I don't know the rivers stance on barbless hooks etc, and I don't personally have un hooking mats ( I don't target carp) but anything which helps with the fish welfare should be used..... if your gonna fish for carp treat them exactly as you would normally

Baits.... Salmon Eggs :icon_eek::laugh: it's The Trent not The Moy, I'm going to organise a fair bit of bait for us all, Hopefully a few gallons of maggots, hemp, ground bait ( maybe not needed), possibly some casters...I've been told I've got to go for a pint and a catch up to let them know what we want, but within reason they're happy to lay on the basics... they've even said they would get it couriered up for us..... as far as boilies, meat or more specialst type baits that'll be down to you... I'm not to sure on live baits either... this is a traditional coarse fishing match ( well it was meant to be ).....

That's great on the truck mate thanks a lot, a few of the older boys will be delighted with a taxi service to the rivers edge

This is a get together at the end of the day mate, we'll make a few quid for charity and hopefully everyone will have a good day,

I'm getting worried now Arch that those 13lb scales wont be enough :toast:

Cheers

Kev

Hi lads,

Acuspell,

I don't normally run charity matches, infact this is the first match I've helped organise for years lol

The exact charity has not been decided but, cancer research or something similar was the idea, the initial idea was due to the loss of 2 very close friends who I fished with ( well was taught by one) through this disease..

But this is not my match, or entirely my choice of charity.... I just put the idea out there and we've ran with it, Ossie and Arch and Lurcher1 are doing alot of the leg work on the venue and after venue pub..

The match itself is a coarse fishing match and will be fished from drawn pegs, so would need to be fished from the bank ( to be fair to everyone else). It would be great if you came and fished mate, I've now sorted bait for the event and our tackle shop has thrown their support to it ( ill put a post on the main thread on general talk)...

Socks

It's a coarse fishing match, the main species would be barbel, chub, roach maybe bream.............. Oh and those bloody pike..

As in most coarse matches game fish won't count..

This was to be like the old traditional matches from the 80's 90's and fishing a natural waterway instead of he manafacured carp ponds which are so popular now,....

Well that was the original idea lol..

Cheers lads
