The Hunting Life Charity Fishing Comp

Recommended Posts

For those lads who maybe don't go on general talk section, or who've not seen

We're running a charity fishing match on the river Trent near Nottingham, on the 18th August for all THL members,

It will be £10 match fees with all proceeds going to cancer charities ( TBC) we'll be having a raffle in the pub after with presentation, there'll be 3 prizes for the top 3 weights with a trophy for the winner donated by Ossie and Arch and also a special trophy in memory of Craigyboy ( donated by the stig) for the biggest fish.. All proceeds from the raffle will also go to charity. All match details ( times etc) will be confirmed, Ossie and Arch and lurcher1 are organising the venue, pegging etc...

This is a bit of a Craic lads, nothing serious as such just a day out and raising a bit of money too, any lads that would like to fish it but maybe haven't got freshwater gear, I'll get then enough to get them fishing.. A couple of lads have said they'll help out ( dido and the stig) so it should all go well on the day..

If anyone's interested add to this post

Cheers lads

Kev

Never even seen one of them, other than in pictures ! I don't have bait rods...I have a little 8' spinning rod and 2000 size reel I occassionally use but have absolutely no idea what you do with bai

Thanks,   I will sponser JB for a pound for every 1lb of fish he catches. But, just in case the river is in flood etc, it will be a minimum of a £5 donation.   TC

This sounds great, i might even have a look, great job the lads who have got this up and running.

Thanks,

A PLEA.....

As you run a charity match occassionally, can I ask you to consider some of the funds for a very worthwhile new charity just getting off the ground:

HOW - Heroes on the Water. have a look at the heroes on the WaterUKwebsite to find out more.

A very worthwhile cause that is entirely voluntary - no money goes to fund salaries with this one!

If any clubs you know of are holding a charity match - please, can they consider supporting this program with some of the funds.

Thanks - I would love to come if there is info on roughly where it is. Can I fish from the kayak and use the fly rod?

Hi lads,

Acuspell,

I don't normally run charity matches, infact this is the first match I've helped organise for years lol

The exact charity has not been decided but, cancer research or something similar was the idea, the initial idea was due to the loss of 2 very close friends who I fished with ( well was taught by one) through this disease..

But this is not my match, or entirely my choice of charity.... I just put the idea out there and we've ran with it, Ossie and Arch and Lurcher1 are doing alot of the leg work on the venue and after venue pub..

The match itself is a coarse fishing match and will be fished from drawn pegs, so would need to be fished from the bank ( to be fair to everyone else). It would be great if you came and fished mate, I've now sorted bait for the event and our tackle shop has thrown their support to it ( ill put a post on the main thread on general talk)...

Socks

It's a coarse fishing match, the main species would be barbel, chub, roach maybe bream.............. Oh and those bloody pike..

As in most coarse matches game fish won't count..

This was to be like the old traditional matches from the 80's 90's and fishing a natural waterway instead of he manafacured carp ponds which are so popular now,....

Well that was the original idea lol..

Cheers lads
