f**K sake your saying it as if its bloody murder. if you want to go out after rabbits go out and enjoy watching your dogs work! you dont need anybody on here's approval or permission.

I wasn't asking for approval. I stated that I was going lamping tonight. I care not if someone says I shouldn't. I was just asking for general opinions and how "against it" people are.

 

i dont see a problem with it. rabbits are pests no matter what time of the year. on the other hand you will get some people on here that will bite your head off at even mentioning lamping during the summer.

I just wondered what the general thoughts were about people lamping rabbits "out of season" for ferret food and the pot?

 

I stopped lamping at the end of Feb and stopped ferreting in March but my Missus has asked if there are any rabbits in the freezer to do a stew with tomorrow and I've only got 3 in the freezer and I have got a litter of kits due in 2 weeks.

 

I wasn't going to go but it seems silly buying ferret food and meat when I've got 2 good lamping dogs and plenty of permission.

 

I'm hardly going to wipe out the population getting 3-4. Just wondered what people's views were.

We've had a couple of wet windy nights recently and I've been out, my one year old dog just came into his own at the end of the season so if I get the chance to work I work him. They all get minced and then eaten by my animals so f**k it!!

I would not be ased waiting till 11 to go lamping why not take the dogs out during the day for a mooch when it's nice and warm its only ferret food u need

Once the ground isnt hard, so the dogs won't injury your feet , drive and enjoy it , I love the off night lamps you get so excited for the full season ahead :)Atb

Personal choice mate, I choose not to, but the dogs do still pick the odd accident up daytime, however I do still shoot pigeons in the spring.

I usually fill two freezers with rabbits for the ferrets to last during the summer time but when they run out i top them up with rabbits and a day or so's decoying , stuffs on the vermin list for a reason . Now the students are finished i get to lamp the campus every two weeks till September and thats usually good for rabbits number wise
