Ideation 8,216
Mine would be ok, they'd just go from bin to bin On a serious note, I think the hound would be hard pressed. She would do a lot of chasing, and not much catching, and would need to rely on carrion. If the whippet could get over the heartbreak of losing my radiant company, he would survive just fine, I have no doubt. He is a a thief, never stops hunting and will eat anything. does the whippet do ok in the wet and cold?I done some survival training late last year and one of the lads on the course brought his lurcher and it didn't like the cold at all, ended up sleeping in the car on the last night. He's no massive fan in general, unless we are hunting. But he will stand it all day if he needs to. But i also think with all of the people gone, he would be fine, finding places to lie up when it was too bad. He's a smart animal, when it comes to sorting himself out

tinytiger 851
There was a greyhound that survived around here for years when I was a kid, come to think of it there's was always dogs that pritty much looked after themselves back in the 60s or seventies there was a greyhound that lived wild for 6 or seven months -was captured and won the st.ledger a few weeks later. LaraCroft 863
Mine would be fine if the Wild provided meals, coats and soft beds. They would make do with a kebab van for a while, but they really need a decent diet... In short, when I die, they are calling Lurcher Rescue PDQ !
Ratreeper 441
Depends what is considered wild, my dog would survive outside a McDonalds and seems to be able to find chips to eat in the remotest wildernesses. But other that, f**k no he would just wait for someone to come along and follow them home to useless bugger. Maybe if he could join a pack of other dogs that would be different. THLpatrick 555
http://xaxor.com/bizarre/5477-pitbulls-attacked-a-bull-.html think this was after the floods in america and they lost their owners etc and no food and some one captured this..i think that was the story. bird 10,013
well you would think a lurcher would, as kills game regular, my 2 would no prob, Bryn would kill anything in the field if he had to, sheep prob be top of the list for most dogs i think .

Agree - but mine seem to need me to instigate the chase - not with a lamp always, but with direction. When I am out walking and not intending to do anything more than walk, they pay no attention to game appearing, apart from an ear flick and a "look". When on the lamp, or when slipped, it is "death to whatever seen", but when I mooch, they seem to mooch swell. I would hope natural instinct will kick in, but I am not holding my breath ! That was in the 1970`s i saw a good few times over a couple of years, i even watched it course a hare, although by this time she had learnt how to stalk her prey rumour has it that she reared a litter of pups whilst living wild but i never saw any or any sign of any,

alimac 882
Do you think if all people just dissappeared your dog or dogs would survive?I've got a lurcher and terrier that won't go to ground so I rekon they'd get by together, they can both catch rabbits and I'm sure they'd have managed hare and the smaller deer pre-ban. I reacon if all the people disappeared I don't think dogs would worry about a ban, lol But mine would be fecked as there all pot lickers, no humans, no pots, no food, end of

bird 10,013
dogs woulnd have a chance as not used to it, in the early 80s went to Tenerife for a Hol, one night me and my wife to be , got locked out of our Apartment lol.It was about 4 am we were standing outside, when heard lot of howling coming towards us. It got louder+ louder, then seen them wild dogs, about 7 of them, and couple were lurcher looking, the rest like sheep dog type. They looked like they would have ago at you, the mrs was getting nervous of them, we did manage to get back in thank feck lol.I asked the next day about the wild dogs, and was told they had killed some people's pet dogs, and they had been more of them they had shot 4 of them the rest pissed off.And said that greyhounds are left loose of killed when they dont race them no more, so thats prob where the xs came from over time . Dogs will deff make it if left wild, they go back to a pack sittuation
