I've seen a lot of dogs out ferreting, and i've seen good ones from a wide range of x's and types (pure collies, spaniels etc). But the very best I have seen have been collie blooded dogs. Perhaps jus

Same here jai,, all the best ones I've seen,, and owned have had some collie , hurdling type cur,, in the make up

any cross you like as long as its brought up doing it some of the best ive seen are mongrels a bit of this and that prefer the smaller ones

Some good marking there, what i really liked about my old Whippet X Bedlington, and you cant teach this.

she would silently mark, then lie down behind the bury waiting for the bolt, after a bit, if there was no bolt, and a dig was on, she would slink off, without you noticing, after the dig you would find her waiting behind the next occupied bury.

she did this all her working life, what a time it saved and put more bunnies in the bag.

She is sadly missed.

I like a dash of collie in my dogs......though any dog will make a decent ferreting dog aslong has they got patience.

Sound. She's a "proper lurcher" in my eyes. When I was a kid I always wanted one that looks like her.
