do you have to use full scuba gear or can you snorkel and where you get the spearguns from?

I am pretty sure spear fishing with scuba gear is illegal, not sure about abroad though.Snorkelling is fine and have a look on ebay, plenty of guns on there.

nice one bro...haha, must have been a bit frustrating...at least u know the fish are therebro...maybe u should get into the spearfishing too"!!!!

spearfishing with diving bottles IS illegal, quite rightly so in my opinion as it gives the quarry no sporting chance basically, people would just clean up in one sitting.

Hi Guys,..

I was BIG into this when i lived in Vegas,..we used to hunt for carp and catfish in lake mead...i couldnt get shit at first, but after about four months, and going about three times a week, i was killing at 15 feet deep...my best kill was on a 14lbs catfish, and that was at 23 foot deep...it can hurt your ears like mad though!..lol.

You have to be careful for SWB (shallow water blackouts)...this can happen when you are up and down, up and down too quick, and not spending enough time at the surface breathing steadily...i would personaly not go unless diving with a friend, its not worth the risk...

We used the 'james bond' style spear guns, with the rubbers bands, my buddy had a gas powered one as well, but i liked using the 'trident' style spear the best...more natural...i would recomend it to anyone!

been diving for many years now and now dive with a close circuit rebreather and trimix (mixed gases) doing local deep wrecks etc.

i was always under the understanding that spearfishing was illegal.....but i was just told that when i started many moons ago and took it as gospel

then watching f-word with gordon ramsay and here he is spearfishing whilst free-diving...

so i am right in understanding its legal whilst free-diving...ie...snorkelling?

never see any spaer guns in any uk dive shop ive been in tho!!! but any abroad n they are always there
