Making Finding The Right Pellet Easy.

Recommended Posts

Hello all haven't been on here in a while. However I have been playing with the idea to create some sample packs of the most used pellets (in both calibres) so that people can try them all and find out which ones their gun prefers. The plan is to put 30 pellets of each time in the sample packs so that it gives the shooter enough shots to decide which is best, but also wont cost a lot as there will not be a thousand pellets.. Now my question to you all is;

Which pellets would you like to see in the sample packs? I want to put as many as possible to give a good range of pellets to try but I also do not want to waste time putting in pellets that are not very popular with other airgun enthusiasts.

So far I have the following

Air arms field 5.52

Air arms field 5.51

Crosman Accupell

RWS Superdomes

Daystate Rangemaster Li

Any help would be very appreciated.

It would seem to me that finding the right pellets for the sub 12ft/lb guns is easier than finding them for the FAC rated ones. So maybe you need to also include some of the heavier pellets - especially the more difficult ones to find like the new'ish Air Arms Field Diablo Plus.

If I were doing this I'd stick to offering all of the better know/higher quality brands and not bother with the cheaper stuff.

Thank you for the reply, I had not thought about FAC airguns so maybe a few of the heavier pellets need to be placed in. I know what you mean about the better quality brands as I don't want to waste money and time with the bad quality pellets. What pellets would you recommend?

When I first got my HW100, I bought a selection of pellets from one of your (soon to be) competitors. I also had a few hanging around from earlier so I had a fair range to try out.

The top list is made up of the pellets that I initially found to have some merit and so I experimented with them more deeply.

RWS Super Dome

RWS Super Point
Air Arms Diablo Field Plus
Weihrauch Magnum
Weihrauch F&T
H&N Barracuda Hunter
H&N Barracuda Hunter Extreme
H&N F&T Trophy
H&N Barracuda Match
JSB Exact
Power Pell
Bisley Magnum

This is the list of pellets I found to be totally useless.

Wasp
H&N Rabbit Magnum II
BSA Interceptor
RWS Hobby

That's not to say that the reverse may not be true in another HW100 FAC. But at least it will give you a list to start off with.

Thanks for all the ideas guys it's much appreciated! If I supplied 15 quality types and each type had 30 pellets what price do you think would be good? Iv seen other prices for similar ones but the prices seem steep for what they offer and I'm not doing in it to try rip off people.

I think a lot of people already have there best pellet, but there are allways newcomers posting on here or just people who have bought a new rifle and could benefit from this kind of service. So good on you mate, and i hope it takes off. :)

2 or 3 of 8.4's

7.9's

so on and so on, you get the drift, and the same in .22.

Apologies I have not replied for a while, I have made the final list

  • AA Field 5.51
  • AA Field 5.52
  • Bisley Magnum
  • AA Field Plus
  • Falcon Accuracy Plus
  • H&N Field Target
  • Daystate Rangemaster Li's
  • H&N Barracuda Match
  • RWS Superdome
  • Crosman Accupell
  • JSB Exact

This will be in .22 to begin with as it shall be a test run to see if the idea works and people order them. I will include 25 of each pellet and I will be selling them for £15 each. That includes delivery that will need to be signed for.

Good luck with this Ian, it's a sound business idea here. Just be sure you show as much clear info about each batch of pellets in respect of head-sizes, grain weights etc. Nothing worse than finding a batch of pellets that work like dreams in a rifle..and no bloody info as to make, type etc.

All the best for your enterprise Ian. I'll be after trying more myself!
