Not so bad here darren, i have all my meadows trapped out and done till the first cut, what im on with is grazing land, which at the moment is very heavilly grazed, the sheep are starving so the grass hasnt a chance to get going. I did the silage fields first, but have taken on two more farms, only two week ago and the silage is well up I did however make it very clear to farmer that,I will have to comeback once its cut,I cant see the little buggers,I am doing ok though Quote Link to post

Matt 160
Flat out with 'em down here. The sheep ground is fine because there's been a grass shortage event the fields that have been laid up are OK to trap. The dairy ground is hard going with at least a foot of grass in most places. The weather hasn't been very helpful this week; I've been dodging the showers, but yesterday was more like December than May, and I've found lots of flooded runs today. Got another 144 traps to go in tomorrow, so I'm hoping for a dry day. Quote Link to post
moxy 617
Best of luck with that one Matt. It certainly isn't much fun getting soaked through. The job kind of looses its romance Quote Link to post
Matt 160
Best of luck with that one Matt. It certainly isn't much fun getting soaked through. The job kind of looses its romance Funnily enough, I did a farm yesterday and called in to the farmhouse to let the farmer know about some badger activity he'd asked me to look at. I stood there, soaked to the skin, with water running off my cap and he was decent enough to offer me a cuppa. I declined, for the simple reason that I knew that the second I got the outer wet layer of clothes off I wouldn't want to move again. He was snug and toasty sat indoors doing his VAT and commented to me "who'd want to be a molecatcher on a day like this.." He was right; I saw the lot yesterday, Rain, Wind, Snow, Hail and Sleet. My eyes ached from the battering the hailstones gave me, and I just wanted to climb into a hot bath and forget it. Today wasn't much better; I sat in the van while the 'shower' hammered down this morning, and by 12 decided that enough was enough and it was time to get wet. Luck was with me, the rain stopped long enough to get 72 traps into three fields, but then it came down again. Since I got back, the sun has been shining! If anyone can recommend a decent breathable waterproof coat that doesn't break the bank I'd be grateful; my old ministry Berghous is now pretty useless. Quote Link to post
yorky_1 0
Ive just done my first Mole job, laid half a dozen traps(small site) and caught two, not bad for a beginner :-) Heres to plenty more jobs to come. Quote Link to post
moxy 617
Rivers west pro smock Matt. The price will be coming down as the new stock is due from the states. The only downside is that there is no ventilation and is a VERY warm jacket. They are however releasing a new version with under arm vent zippers. In June. Very comfy, waterproof, long guarantees and you don't have to get it in cammo. Give it a look 2 Quote Link to post
