This is my first post on the board, but I have been reading here for a year or so. I was hoping to find out if there are any working whippets in the USA and were i would look for a quality dog here, I am in TN for those of you here in the states.

My second question is what does the Saluki bring to the mix when using them in a lurcher breeding?, I have a few Grey's and I know that they are fast but lack stamina.

Thanks for any help you may have.

saluki will bring you a mix of lazyness, cowardness, half heartedness and give you nothing but trouble. i have been runnig for 25 years if you want a good dog to put in the mix you want bedllington or a bull cross or even better get a minshaw (see andy moore)

Goodlooking greyhound that is sir. Looks useful...how heavy is it?

Saluki can give you great feet, stamina en toughness. Good one is ideal for jack rabbits in open country. You might also get aloofness and selective obedience but it depends on the dogs upbringing and your attitude. But not all salukis are alike. Some are pretty "macho" dogs others are more like cats.

Dutch Salmon likes salukis and has written "Gazehounds and Coursing" on running dogs in the US. Pick up a copy if you can.

Cheers

Thanks for the replys, Smash if you dont like Salukis why dont you add something intelligent, instead of using my first post as a place to let your mouth run.

L the hound is about 25 inches and I am guessing 65 pounds we live on acerage and he has caught a few rabbits. I just got the use of 500 acres full of coyotes foxes and some hogs so perhaps he will get a little more work soon.

If the next photo posts up it is one of my young females about 14 months.

Again thanks but still looking for working whippits over here.
