Early Pace

Recommended Posts

Depends on ground and quarry..

Early pace at times is good otherwise dog would not be able to shut it's game down before it hits cover.

A good dog has different gears and knows when to pull the throtle and when bide it's time.

All small fields here, a dog without an explosive start would catch very little and a dog with gears would also be of very little benifit. only one speed works on this land and thats flat out.

Does dogs with it burn out quick. do you need it or could a plodder get bye with out it..me i would go for one with it

A real good dog on big or small land is a fast dog that knows how to run slow ,If he stops the hare as in gets her turning before the gate or hedge or what ever he should have the brain to slow down and slow the hare down aswell.Single handed dogs can do this and a lot of hunting men seem to think these are slow dogs but if yea see some of these dogs in a double handed race with a fast dog most of the time they can get out ahead of the fast dog :thumbs:
