pritch 335
science doesn't pretend to have all the answers it's like a jigsaw with the pieces scattered to the four winds some may never be found some may be found tomorrow some centuries from now but you take the pieces you have & reason likely theories many are forthcoming & you reason through the evidence you have the most likely, unlike creationists who cling to a book written by multiple authors who little or nothing is known let a lone their mental state is backed little or no proof run by people who's idea of turning the other cheek was to burn & drown folk who refused to see things their way & even now after over two thousand years & having hundreds of millions of believers & the worlds greatest minds of the times when people ask why the best answer they've been able to come up with is "god works in mysterious ways" lol it's code for i don't know ,shut the feck up & get another £ in the collection you numb cnut
Huan72 687
There is more in heaven and Earth than in the imaginings of man - I love that saying. Not so long ago static electricity would have been looked at as magic. Does an amoeba know that its being looked at through a microscope, I doubt it! Are we the most intelligent thing in the universe, or even the galaxy........probably not. There is no such thing as the supernatural, there are many natural things we do not know about I am sure, things we do not even yet comprehend. I have a feeling that we know as much about the universe as that amoeba knows about us! Life has taught me to keep a very open mind.........................................I believe in an afterlife absolutely, is that just to make life more bearable, maybe partly but that works for me, looking forward to being greeted my dogs on rolling green hills, do dogs have souls..................definitely, if humans make it to the other side then dogs have to. A bit all over the place but in essence, I would never presume to know the secrets of the universe, I'll leave that to others.
*The*Field*Marshall* 674
I appreciate the thought. . However, perhaps if there was a Transcendent Being, we would evidently be the most prominent creature of his creation, what we have done as a race demonstrates that. . And if we were made with the ability to comprehend the past, present and future as only man can, would this Transcentant being have left us here with no clue whatsoever as to what in the world we are doing here on planet earth, where we came from and what we are headed for. . Or could He have picked an assortment of high and humble men to document a plan, purpose and revelation for us to comprehend have hope in. Sure, we can all have a laugh and a joke, but I'm certain we've all given the "what's life all about" question some thought at some time or other and I'm not afraid to admit I've give it some considerable thought and after a fair amount of research, study, conversation, seminars and observation I have come to my own independent conclusion, it's not a popular one, but I'm not alone, there are members of all walks of life, from scientific to sporting, prince and pauper who believe the same. . We believe that a omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent God spoke this world into existence through creation and intelligent design, with incredible complexity and intricacy, balancing the laws of nature, planetary motions, chemistry and physics . . as well as objective moral values, good from evil. . He would be The Uncreated Creator, above and beyond the dimension of time, having no beginning and no end. . Yes faith is a crutch for me, but I am young and healthy, I have a sound mind, a beautiful wife, a couple of fine dogs and family and friends who would give me their all. . I have no need for a crutch, sure I have experienced loss, violence and sadness like any other. . I am not detached in anyway from the real world. . I believe because my logic brought me to ask a question of faith and the answer was enlightening. . Thanks for reading, this is who I am and I enforce my views on no one.

baw 4,360
a great mind no doubt , and i agree with him re god , but fk me he is aggressive in his belief , the way he belittles anyone who believes or is undecided is a bit full on for me ,there doesnt seem to e any ,live and live ,you agree with him or your a dangerous idiot. Ironically, that's how the church is towards non-believers. What church have you had such an experience with matey and what was said to you? None personally Wilf, as I have made it a point not to be a hypocrite by going to church if I can help it. That's why my son wasn't christened and I wasn't married in church. Last time I went to church was for my friend's wedding, which was for his and his wife's sake, not mine and all I heard for a hour was how lowly we were, how "unworthy" we were and how we should bow down and kiss the feet of someone/something I simply don't believe in, along with stories that meant nothing to me and were as valid as fairy stories. I don't consider myself lowly or unworthy of anything. My "religion" if you want to call it that, is to try to live life as a decent person. Do unto others and all that. If anyone disagrees with the way I live my life, then shame on them for judging me. As stated earlier, this thread wasn't about whether god exists or not, it was asking who had read the book and what they thought of it. I would never try to impose my views on others, so to have the same done to me I find condescending and patronizing. It's a common misconception matey that churches ( especially Christian churches ) " look down" on people who are non believers......it's just not true, some of the members may do but certainly not the church itself. I take the view, believe what you believe, be that in god or nothing.....long as your not driving other folk mad I've had personal experience of it wilf. Being a none believer but brought up in a catholic environment you soon realize what extent the Catholic Church will go to, to make you 'fall into line'. At primary your brainwashed from an early age, forced into believing their faith or else. I was dropped from the football team even though I'd regularly get MOTM for not learning my prayers. I've had priests physically hit me for not remembering hymns. Makes me laugh when folk label me as a catholic because I support Celtic. I have been persecuted from both ends of the spectrum do I give a f**k? The more you try to bully me into believing some fantasy the more I'll rebel. I'm a true atheist. I've had the catholic faith rammed down my throat and I can categorically say........ It's a load of shit. Be your own man, works for me.
paulus 26
It is thought that the sun is going through a magnetic shift and the the earth may be in the early stages of polar reversal. Studies in scientific literature describe how many animals from whales and dolphins to humming birds and wildebeests rely on the earths magnetic superhighways to navigate their way to feeding and mating grounds. Humans don't use these superhighways or so it was thought. In 1993 an international team studying magnetoreception, the ability of our brains to detect magnetic changes in the earth.the team published the remarkable findings that the human brain contains millions of tiny magnetic particles. These particals connect us just as they do animals, to earths magnetic field in a powerful direct, and intimate way.We know that for example magnetic fields have a profound influence over our nervous systems, our immune systems and our perception of time, space, dreams, and maybe even reality itself. Our planets magnetic strength (field) varies from place to place, early in the twentieth century, magnetic, ribbonlike patterns were charted and published by scientists as a contour map of the world. The map displays the strength of the magnetic lines overlaying the continents and shows the places on earth where the people of the world experience the strongest and the weakest effects of the planets magnetic fields.Consciousness is made of energy, and that includes electricity and magnetisms, whilst the electromagnetic nature of consciousness is still being explored, it does appear that earths magnetic play a key role in how we accept new ideas and change in our lives. The places in the world with the lowest magnetic intensity, such as the zero contour line (zero magnetic gauss)which runs directly beneath the Suez canal and into Israel. Are precisely the places where we see the greatest opportunities for change. On the opposite end of the spectrum there are zones of extremely high magnetisms where historically, change comes about slowly over time and is often the result of a struggle. In central Russia for example, contour values are some of the highest in the world at more than 150 gauss units.Police officers and health workers will agree that bizarre and strange behavior that is seen during a full moon when the magnetic strength changes suddenly,
baw 4,360
Sorry Walshie, didn't mean to hijack your thread. . And no offence or disrespect meant to any other. I believe I presented facts, facts that hard to accept, but never the less, the story of Oto Benga is true and more people have been killed in the name of this theory than of the whole of religion put together, it's not liked, but it's true. But regardless of the above, I don't believe in the theory of evolution because I believe it unscientific and an assault on common sense, how anyone could believe believe that all that we see and are came from a Big Bang, a random accident billions of years is a mystery to me. There's no evidence evolution is happening, ever has happened or ever will. . I won't bore anyone with arguments about the genetic code, DNA and the minimal gene set concept. . I'll leave you with a pretty video and a verse of scripture instead. . "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualitieshis eternal power and divine naturehave been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. (Romans 1:20 NIV)" I know you have written me off since I assumed wars were involved in the millions of deaths supposedly caused due to a belief in evolution. However could you answer a few questions as I am genuinely interested in how you rationalise it. Although I admit that I have debated with dozens of creationists and they will never, ever change their minds about anything so I am not looking to preach to you. Firstly, if you do believe in evolution what is your interpretation of this photo, showing the stages of human evolution: If you follow the bible as true, do you believe the Earth is less than 10,000 years old? Does this mean humans and dinosaurs lived together? If so, how come archaeology has never shown fossils of them together, they are always layered showing hundreds of millions of years of separation. How did ALL the different, over 4 million variations of living creatures fit on Noah's Ark. Not only that but each animal would need feeding, for example one pair of elephants would need up to 600KG per day. If you believe in micro evolution but not macro, where do you draw the line? What I mean is that animals don't suddenly change from one species to another, they are all intermediary stages and there is no specific point where you could say 'new species here'. So it is impossible to say that micro evolution can happen but not macro, how far can an animal change in your opinion? That will do for now, please don't get offended as generally people do when you question their beliefs but I think this is only due to insecurity. *edit to add, please provide one scientific, falsiable example of ANYTHING supernatural and I will give you £500,000 100% guaranteed. I promise you this is a genuine offer, as there is a £1 Million offer on the go I will split with you As I can't help noticing that creationists simply try to point out things science can't answer and then say 'god did it' instead of using your own facts. You keep saying the blatant lie that evolution is not scientific, so please give evidence FOR creation that isnt just opinion. Ratreeper, I'm not offended mate. . There's no malice in this thread. I'm sorry, but what can we determine from a bunch of skulls? Are they authentic anyway?? I don't take that photo very seriously, anyone who knows much about the fossil record knows we don't have the transitional evidence to support the theory. . Here's a quote from a leading evolutionist at the time: "The absence of fossil evidence for intermediary stages between major transitions in organic design, indeed our inability, even in our imagination, to construct functional intermediates in many cases, has been a persistent and nagging problem for gradualistic accounts of evolution." Stephen Jay Gould. Professor of Geology and Paleontology, Harvard University. It didn't make him popular, but at least he was honest. . Of course dinosaurs and man existed together! Haven't you seen the flint stones?!? No,I believe man and dinosaur existed together, I believe we still do, look at the rhinoceros and komodo dragon for example, they look like dinosaurs to me. . There's suppose to be Native American cave drawings with man and dinosaur looking animals. . What about the legends of dragons? Could they have been dinosaurs?? No smoke without fire and all! Excuse the pun. The layers theory hasn't any weight to it, Mount St Helen's blew that method of dating out of the water. Would the ark have needed 4 million animals?? Were they adult animals or young? And how many of today animals are sub species?? Look at how many verities of dogs we have, all from a common wolf like ancestor. . And that's what micro evolution is, variation within that particular specie, dogs, birds, or rats. . they change, but remain what they are. . Hence "each after its own kind" . . Each specie has its own genetic code, the code can lose information (mutate) but never gain information. . We can see microevolution, but not macro. . And therefore evolution falls flat for me. When that question was put to Dawkins he asked for the tape to be stopped and then resumed by saying something that wasn't relevant to the original question!! It's difficult reply to these threads on iPhone. . If the way the planets move around in perfect synchronisation isn't super natural, I don't know what is. . Life it's self is a miracle. . And to look for scienftic proof for God would be like taking a piano apart to look for a song. . Now you tell me, where's your proof for your theory? How did we evolve from a cell?? From my experience most believe in evolution blindly, they've never really given it any serious thought. I seriously cannot fathom how anyone in this day and age can honestly believe there is someone looking down on us, it beggars belief. You ask how did we evolve from a cell? Why not? A cells a living thing. There are amazing transformations happen all around us; a small seed transforming into a might oak. Sperm turning into a human, bird, whale. A caterpillar turning into a butterfly, tad pole into a frog. just because we don't have all the answers right now, during this nano second we are on this planet doesn't mean its wrong. I believe there is life on other planets, I'm not arrogant enough to think the universe revolves around us. Who's to say frozen life didn't come here on one of the many meteorites that hit the planet. The universe is expanding which to me gives credence to the Big Bang theory. But no one knows, we can all waffle and listen to intelligent men but they don't know, no one does. Even Hawkins changed his theory on black holes after more research. We are all learning no more no less. It's the arrogance that god made us superior to everything else that doesn't hold water to me. Why make life in a rabbit, give it teeth and digestive system to only eat grass then make animals with fangs to eat his creation? Why take the time to make an intricate insect, give it the power to fly, make its life cycle only a day then create fish to eat it? Sounds to me this god of yours is a bit of a sadist c**t but each to there own.

paulus 26
50% banana Banana for Breakfast anyone???This is interesting. After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again.Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.DEPRESSION:According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.PMS:Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.ANEMIA:High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.BLOOD PRESSURE:This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.BRAIN POWER:200 students at a Twickenham school ( England ) were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.CONSTIPATION:High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.HANGOVERS:One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.HEARTBURN:Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.MORNING SICKNESS:Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.MOSQUITO BITES:Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.NERVES:Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system..Overweight and at work? Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and chips. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.ULCERS:The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chroniclercases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.TEMPERATURE CONTROL:Many other cultures see bananas as a 'cooling' fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature. So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has FOUR TIMES the protein, TWICE the carbohydrate, THREE TIMES the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals.. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say, 'A BANANA a day keeps the doctor away!' Born Hunter 17,763
Belief in microevolution but not macroevolution........................ right, so what's the difference? Seems a convenient way to allow for an intelligent creator without being ignorant to the observable facts supporting the theory of Evolution. For what it's worth now, my opinion on 'God'; The belief thrives with the absence of knowledge and understanding. People are naturally somewhat scientific and logical in what they believe, we look for reasons to follow a certain line of thought and even have faith, it's never completely blind. All those that have faith in an intelligent creator, a being separate to our time and space, usually have a good reason to believe and 99 times out of 100 it'll be based on a question our current level of scientific understanding cannot answer. Hundreds of years ago God was 'proven' with questions that today science easily answers............. hundreds of years from now God will still be proven with questions unanswerable by the then current levels of science............ Yes, I have faith, faith in science, but even faith is based on an intelligent argument.............
