Is it cracking on inside to mate? Could be a water leek under ground near that side of house making it unstable is the cracking showing around back of house ?

yes mate the bathroom is behind that wall and is cracked all along the ceiling and down the walls

 

Can you get hot water ok?

I am not a builder, just a brickie so my opinion is based on some experience. I would say that you have subsidence in the foundations. Sorry.   TC

Put some gaffer tape on it , won't make it any safer but you won't see the crack anymore.

i could give my opinion but i'm not qualified to really and could be just worrying you and your family unnecessarily.

wooden buildings i do know abit about but bricks and morter just isnt my thing :laugh: :laugh:

render the outside poly-fill the gap in the ceiling and put the house on the market :whistling::laugh: .

i now understand why someone took the trouble to have the house re-pointed :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:
