elisderyn 496
Have just picked up a superb bit of ground on the back of promising a farmer to get rid of some troublesome mink...........These little fuckers are avoiding the traps which have been baited with an assortment of different items incl. Mackrel.....Fresh perch & also moorhen.............The moorhen in question was caught & killed by the mink in front of my mate & a few other fellas....!!!!!!!.........They must be moving up & down the stretch of water as we had no joy with the mink hounds there last week ........... My next move is to try the floating trap tied off in some reeds............Im off to check the traps again tonight & my mate will have the shotgun for a chance sighting..........fingers crossed......ANY advise would be welcome.......... Guest little_lloyd
You cant beat a bit of the mink hounds Mink prove little basterds to catch (even with hounds) The last time i was out wth the hounds we had strong drag all alongthe river untill we reached the narrow brook then we hunted this big dog mink along and along no i was waddling through the reeds and my mate was like ohh shit lloyd hes right there hounds where right next to him and he slipped down the bank into the water swam and hit the huntsmans legs and they eventully caught him later that evening. but it was the biggest mink ever huge f****r. Sadly all mink are flushed to either the harris hawk or a gun now Get the hounds up there again in a few weeks. Those mink rafts are evective aparrenltly we come across them all the time when out with hounds. The pack of hounds i hunt with are not coming up my way again since they cancelled there second meets up here since the flooding but the other pack (three counties) will be coming back to the little avon soon Quote Link to post

LOWL theres this one meet where the packs been meeting for a few years and every year theres a bitch mink who keeps escaping down a drain and getting away, this year we blocked the drain and had strong drag for a little while then the mink which everyone reckons is the same mink they keep hunting every year lowl slips away again ffs everyone keeps saying just one year where going to turn this corner and shes gonna be in the wrong place at the wrong time but somehow i think this minks been hunted too many times and needs shooting. Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Mate -try rabbit guts and put a pair of live traps back to back as close to the water line as possible .Some sort of artificial lead in is benificial .Mink pads are like small cats with claws out .Young will be dispersing this time of year and it may be a passer by you have seen .
